Ems Response Time For Patients Critically-Injured From Automobile Accidents Using Regression Analysis, Sneha R. Vanga, Phillip M. Ligrani, Mehrnaz Doustmohammadi, Michael Anderson
PRC-Affiliated Research
The ability to quickly and effectively receive medical treatment in the event of an automobile collision is one of the most important aspects in emergency medical services (EMS). Emergency medical service providers are the first to respond and manage cases related to trauma, emergency surgery, and critically injured patients. Response time for emergency medical services vehicles is especially important for areas, where travel distances are often much larger, compared to more urban areas. The importance of the present data and analysis procedures are their applicability to multiple environments, including urban settings. Methods: The present study is focused on optimization of …

A Sensor Fused Rear Cross Traffic Detection System Using Transfer Learning, Jungme Park, Wenchang Yu
A Sensor Fused Rear Cross Traffic Detection System Using Transfer Learning, Jungme Park, Wenchang Yu
Electrical & Computer Engineering Publications
Recent emerging automotive sensors and innovative technologies in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) increase the safety of driving a vehicle on the road. ADAS enhance road safety by providing early warning signals for drivers and controlling a vehicle accordingly to mitigate a collision. A Rear Cross Traffic (RCT) detection system is an important application of ADAS. Rear-end crashes are a frequently occurring type of collision, and approximately 29.7% of all crashes are rear-ended collisions. The RCT detection system detects obstacles at the rear while the car is backing up. In this paper, a robust sensor fused RCT detection system is …

The Effects Of Eight-Week Sports-Specific Training On The Kinematics Of Double-Pole Techniques In Novice Cross-Country Skiers, Jinliang Li, Binghong Gao, Boyi Dai, Qin Zhu, Ling Li, Ran Li
ISBS Proceedings Archive
The purpose of the current study was to 1) investigate the effectiveness of an eight-week training specific to cross-country skiing on kinematic characteristics of the double-pole techniques in novice athletes; 2) examine the relationships between joint angles and poling kinematics during different phases of the double-pole in novice and experienced athletes. Ten novice cross-country skiing college athletes from China and nine experienced cross-country skiing college athletes from the United States participated in the eight-week cross-country skiing training. Three cameras were used to collect the kinematics of the double-pole techniques in field before and after the training for the novice athletes …

Filling In The Gaps: A Diversity Audit Toolkit From Tredway Library, María Evelia Emerson, Lauryn Grace Lehman
Filling In The Gaps: A Diversity Audit Toolkit From Tredway Library, María Evelia Emerson, Lauryn Grace Lehman
Library and Information Science: Faculty Scholarship & Creative Works
In the spring of 2021, the Tredway Library at Augustana College (Rock Island, IL) implemented an audit of the library's print book collection to see if there were gaps in representation of the voices of authors of differing races/ ethnicities; genders; or sexual orientations. With the results of this audit, Augustana librarians now have a better understanding of which voices and perspectives are missing and/or underrepresented in the print collection. This toolkit is intended to assist other libraries / information organizations in undertaking similar diversity audits of their own.
The authors now have an article on this topic, available at: …
