Plasmoacanthoma is an extremely rare benign verrucous lesion, with few cases reported in the literature, and it often goes misdiagnosed. An attempt was made to discuss the features and compare them to reduce the diagnostic dilemma in cases of plasmoacanthoma, which mimics squamous cell carcinoma, both for the clinician and pathologist. Written informed consent was obtained from the patient for the case report. Institutional ethical clearance was obtained. A review of the literature was conducted after a PubMed search with the keyword "Plasmoacanthoma" on September 20, 2023. Nine articles were obtained, out of which two were not available. One was …

Nasopalatine duct cyst, which is also known as incisive canal cyst, is the most common developmental cyst of the maxilla. It arises from the proliferation of the remnants of the nasopalatine duct stimulated by trauma or infection. In this article, the authors report a rare case of an extensive nasopalatine duct cyst in a 57-year-old Male associated with non-vital tooth. Clinical examination revealed facial asymmetry associated with swelling that is painful and tender. Correlating clinical and radiological findings, a diagnosis of nasopalatine duct cyst was formed, and the histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of nasopalatine duct cyst. Dirofilariasis is an infection caused by the filarial nematode Dirofilaria. Dirofilaria immitis primarily causes pulmonary dirofilariasis, while subcutaneous dirofilariasis is usually caused by Dirofilaria tenuis and Dirofilaria repens but can rarely be caused by Dirofilaria immitis as well. Here we report a rare case where in a 26-year-old with a history of international travel presented with swelling over the nasal dorsum. Following surgical excision, histopathological examination revealed dirofilariasis. Although uncommon, this zoonosis should be taken into consideration as a differential diagnosis of facial swellings.

However, studies investigating such mismatches in low-resource healthcare environments are limited. This study aims to analyze diagnostic mismatches in otorhinolaryngology within a low-resource healthcare environment. A publicly available dataset assessing diagnostic outcomes from non-otorhinolaryngology clinicians and ENT specialists was analyzed. The dataset included demographic characteristics, referral diagnoses, and final ENT specialist diagnoses. Introduction: The standard Keen's or the maxillary vestibular incision allows direct access to the zygomatico-maxillary complex with inadvertent transection of the facial muscles and more laborious visualisation of the zygoma. Materials and Methods: We describe modifications to the vestibular and Keen's technique, based on identification and re-orientation of the facial muscles as well as utilisation of anatomical gaps between the facial mimetic muscles. Conclusion: Our modifications are based on the principle of facial mimetic muscle identification, preservation and re-orientation to near normal anatomy.

Feed is the most costly input for US ruminant livestock production systems, and increasing the utilization efficiency of irrigated forage systems can improve system profitability. This study assessed the production, utilization and quality of 22 intensively managed perennial grasses and legumes. Forages were cultivated as monocultures under irrigation and subjected to similarly intense clipping or mob stocking for two years at six-week intervals between May and September. Grasses and legumes were randomly assigned to 22 adjacent 1.5-m-wide by 9-m-long subplots within each whole plot, and pairs of whole plots were randomly assigned to grazing or clipping management. Tracking the extent of seasonal snow on glaciers over time is critical for assessing glacier vulnerability and the response of glacierized watersheds to climate change. Existing snow cover products do not reliably distinguish seasonal snow from glacier ice and firn, preventing their use for glacier snow cover detection. Despite previous efforts to classify glacier surface facies on local scales, a unified approach for monitoring glacier snow cover on larger spatial scales remains elusive.
