"The once prosperous gold, silver, copper and lead mines of the Searchlight mining district, Nevada, are situated along the south and western margins of a large quartz monzonite body. This intrudes the Precambrian gneisses and younger lava flows. Associated mineral veins show an eccentric type of zoning around the intrusive.

Seven rock samples of the quartz monzonite representing different parts of the intrusive were analyzed petrographically and spectrographically. Modal analyses and various types of rock alteration were investigated petrographically. The area, mapped at a scale of 1:24000, comprises a segment of the northerly-trending Eldorado mountains in the southeast corner of the Great Basin. This rugged desert area is on a drainage divide between the Great Basin and the Colorado River. The plan of this paper is to present some observations and then in subsequent chapters to examine the two basic cosmological ideas in the light of these observations.

The first of the observations involves an estimate of the angular momentum in a given volume of space and the ratio of this momentum to the mass or number of nucleons in the given volume. We therefore wish to obtain a rough estimate of the angular momentum in that part of the universe which man may call his immediate surroundings, i.e., the solar system and galaxy.

The present study was initiated to determine the effect sorbitol has upon the enzymatic functions of thiamin; specifically, what effect sorbitol bas upon the alpha-ketoglutarate and pyruvate dehydrogenases activities of rat liver mitochondria. IN a recently published economic survey of the Australian wheat growing industry, it was reported that nearly two-thirds of the farms surveyed in Western Australia were located on lateritic "sand plain."

As a random selection was made of the eighty farms that were visited it is reasonable to conclude that a similar proportion of all the State's wheat producing farms are on that type of country.

This constitutes a remarkable change from the earlier days of wheat belt settlement when the sand plain soils were regarded as virtually useless and by-passed for development.

In the northern and eastern parts of its range its distribution is more or less continuous, but in the arid west it is very patchy. "Mineralized ground water occurs at some localities in southeastern St. Louis and northern Jefferson counties, Missouri. This water is usually undesirable and is detrimental to development of ground water resources.

Water well records in the offices of the Missouri Geological Survey and Water Resources provided data for a study of structure, lithology and occurrence of ground water. Water well drillers and property owners were interviewed to obtain additional information concerning drilling problems and quality of water.

The normal spectral emittance at 0. 65 microns of elemental boron specimens was measured at incandescent temperatures by the hollow-tube method, This was made possible by depositing boron onto thin-walled hollow tubes of graphite and molybdenum. An approximate value of the total hemispherical emittance for boron was also obtained. The deposition of boron was accomplished by chemical vapor plating with boron tribromide and hydrogen. The boron produced was characterized in several ways.

Where applicable, recommended methods are compared to similar methods advocated for, and accepted by, private engineering firms in similar situations.

The major problem exists in the lack of a profit motive in programs undertaken with the use of public funds. "Lenticular bodies of massive limestone, flanked by thin crinoidal beds, crop out in southwestern Missouri and northwestern Arkansas. They are within the St. Joe limestone of the Lower Mississippian.

Strata underlying these bodies typically are down-warped, those on the flanks lapping against, finally passing completely over the limestone core. Dips away from the “reef” are commonly around 5 degrees, but reach as much as 30 degrees. Conglomeratic detritus, originating from the core, occurs in flanking beds at their contact with it.

Thin sections of these masses show no more than 15 per cent of the limestone to consist of fossil …

Kidder County is situated in central North Dakota within the glaciated Missouri Plateau. Rocks underlying the drift range from Cretaceous (Pierre formation) through Palocene (Tongue River formation) in age. The Pierre and Fox Hills formations constitute the majority of the pre-Pleistocene surface. Ice-shove deformation, apparently during Cary time, tilted blocks of Fox Hills in the Sibley Buttes into northeastward-dipping positions.

Cary and Mankato subages of Wisconsin age are represented at the surface. Ages are difficult to assign to drift sheets on the basis of lithology or degree of weathering of included tills; but by correlation from South Dakota and crosscutting …

The problem of this study was to develop an evaluation form to measure the differentiation in quality of nursing care given by professional staff nurses. It was hoped that the evaluation form could be used by administrators of nursing service as a basis for giving pay increases based on nursing performance.

A review of nursing literature did not reveal the existence of an evaluation form based on verifiable data of performance upon which an objective evaluation could be made.
