RESIDENTS within an area of 50,000 to 75,000 square miles in Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas were awakened by mild but distinct earth tremors at 5:00 and 5:03 A.M. on March 1. No damage of any importance has been reported. Two distinct tremors occurred, each lasting about 10 seconds, about 3 minutes apart.

In the meantime an interesting new form unlike that of any species falling within our experience presents itself from the Pleistocene of Cherry County, Nebraska. The new specimen cannot be assigned a place in any of the four following genera: Preptoceras, Euceratherium, Ovibos, or Bootherium, but may possibly be referable to the genus Symbos, to which we are assigning it provisionally. "Formic acid, the lowest member of the fatty acid series, was obtained as early as the seventeenth century by distilling ants with water. Other methods were later found after the correct constitution of the acid became known. In this branch of study the speeds of reaction of ethyl acetoacetate, α-mono-methyl-ethyl-acetoacetate, α-mono-ethyl-ethyl-acetoacetate, α-mono-propyl-ethyl-acetoacetate in the presence of 0.05 and 0.10 normal hydrochloric acids have been investigated at temperatures between 60⁰C. and 90⁰C. The basis of this thesis resides in an experiment performed by Dr. J.R. Koch of Marquette University during the summer of 1931. Dr. Koch poured some liquid emulsion into an "H" tube and attached the electrodes to a source of DC current. A few days later he noticed the wax bad separated from the emulsion and had passed to the positive electrode leaving the solution surrounding the negative electrode clear.
