"Underground mine planning engineers face significant challenges when determining what geometry provides the most profitable and safe stope for extraction. Several techniques and optimization algorithms have been developed in recent years, but most fail to find optimal solutions because they are heuristic or LP-based without efficient geometric constraints. The Habitable Worlds Telescope Starshade is an occulting disk that orbits in tandem with a telescope that occludes and diffuses the light from stars to observe the relatively dim exoplanets in orbit around them. It achieves this in part with tailored petals that diffuse light to soften the light from the star. Due to the relative sizes of the star and the planet, NASA considers the shape stability of the Starshade's petals to be a Key Technology Gap. The assessment of greenhouse gases to identify ways to reduce global warming was of enormous importance worldwide. This study assessed the carbon footprint of an organization and the carbon footprint of products within the herbal soap manufacturing industry, following the guidelines of the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO). It also evaluated the environmental toxicity of soap production. The study found that the organization’s carbon footprint amounted to 551 tCO2 equivalent, with Scope 3 emissions being the highest at 359 tCO2 equivalent, followed by Category 1 products and services, which accounted for 208 tCO2 equivalent. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis of Thailand's food security policies against the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) frameworks. The research examines the evolution of Thailand's food security policies and their alignment with CFS guidelines. It analyzes two main policy frameworks: the Food Security Strategy Framework (2017-2021) by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Thailand Food Management Action Plan Phase 1 (2023-2027) by the National Food Committee. The purpose of this thesis is to test biopolymers synthesized from oilseeds or produced from agricultural wastes for large bale net wrapping as a viable alternative to conventional petroleum-based plastics (PBP). The goal is to test and assess novel polymers to guide the synthesis of a benign biodegradable polymer. Biobased net wrapping will significantly reduce ingestion of PBPs in animals such as ruminants to improve digestive health and minimize cattle loss due to plastic disease. Problematic soil like expansive soil, and frost-susceptible soil causes significant damage to civil infrastructure. The use of calcium-based stabilizers in the treatment of sulfate-rich expansive soils is not suggested due to the formation of ettringite. Infrastructure such as pavements and embankments built on expansive soil are often exposed to the damaging impacts of freeze-thaw cycles in areas prone to seasonal freezing making them vulnerable to cracking and spalling. This study evaluated the effects of incorporating cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) into Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) and regular concrete materials, focusing on mechanical properties and the use of cost-effective ingredients. CNC, synthesized from rice husk, was characterized by a crystallinity index of 55%. Four concentrations of CNC were investigated: 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt.% of cement. Three types of mixtures were developed: M-0, without sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA) as a sand replacement; M-50, with 50% SCBA as a sand replacement; and regular concrete. Visualization is a key tool for understanding the data. This dissertation designed and implemented a novel technique for visualizing MCD called Pivoting Parallel Charts (PPC). Tropical marine fish is a main raw material for surimi processing plants, including golden threadfin bream (Nemipterus virgatus Houttuyn, 1782) and swallowtail dwarf monocle bream (Parascolopsis eriomma Jordan & Richardson, 1909). After processing, more than 60% of fish are considered as byproducts (i.e., head, viscera, skin, bones, fins and scale), and tend to discard due to poor-utilization. The hydrogenation of carbon dioxide (CO2) to methanol is a promising approach for CO2 utilization. However, conventional methanol synthesis is thermodynamically limited at high temperatures. Alcohol-assisted methanol synthesis has emerged as a novel low-temperature method, using alcohol as a catalytic solvent to alter reaction pathways. Equilibrium analysis using Gibbs free energy minimization in Aspen Plus showed that increasing ethanol enhanced CO2 conversion and methanol yield. At high ethanol concentrations, ethanol remained in the liquid phase. This study investigated ethanol-assisted CO2 hydrogenation in a trickle-bed reactor using a commercial Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst. This research aims to elucidate the mechanisms and quantify the inventory of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions—specifically carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O)—from an activated sludge (AS) wastewater treatment facility at the Pattaya Wastewater Treatment Plant (Soi Wat Nongyai), Thailand. A closed dynamic flux chamber (CDC) technique coupled with a portable Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) gas analyzer was utilized to measure gas concentrations across three critical units: the primary sedimentation tank, aeration tank, and final sedimentation tank together with a direct-probe technique to measure across the sludge thickening tank, and sludge dewatering area. Cattle identification is a critical component of modern farm management systems, particularly in ensuring traceability, disease control, and improved production efficiency. Traditional identification methods such as ear tags or microchips often face challenges related to cost, durability, and animal welfare concerns. To address these limitations, this study proposes TBPN-ACEM (Two-Branch Prototype Network with Adaptive-Color Local Binary Pattern and Enhanced Margin Prototype Loss), a lightweight and few-shot learning framework designed for cattle identification using muzzle patterns, a unique and permanent biometric trait analogous to human fingerprints. Lutein is a carotenoid widely recognized for its health benefits, including improved vision, cognitive function, and prevention of age-related diseases. This study presents a comprehensive techno-economic and environmental assessment of three crude free lutein production processes using marigold flowers (Tagetes erecta L.) at a processing capacity of 74 tons/year, modeled in Asplen Plus V.11. The evaluated processes include sequential extraction and de-esterification (SQP) using hexane (HEX) or liquefied dimethyl ether (LiqDME), and a one-step simultaneous extraction and de-esterification (SMP) using LiqDME. Drought is a prolonged period of deficient precipitation that can result in significant water-related challenges across the globe. It may arise from multiple factors, including reduced rainfall, limited water availability, and low soil moisture content. To effectively assess and monitor drought conditions, drought indicators and indices are essential tools for determining the severity, spatial extent, and duration of drought events.
