Measuring Inclusive Leadership In Nonprofit Performing Arts Organizations, Thomas Abruzzo May 2024

Measuring Inclusive Leadership In Nonprofit Performing Arts Organizations, Thomas Abruzzo

Dissertations

Inclusive leadership is undoubtedly a practice to strive for, and few would argue against the value of leading inclusively. Yet, empirically, little is known about what constitutes effective inclusive leadership, especially in the context of nonprofit performing arts organizations. This sector is a particularly apt place to study and practice inclusive leadership because, in addition to the many benefits it provides, the nonprofit arts sector has problematic roots in terms of privileging a dominant social class by prioritizing certain art forms over others. For example, the popularity of the nonprofit form in the arts sector, when compared to for-profit or …

Creativity In Information Systems Research: A Systematic Literature Review, Mojca Simonovič, Aleš Popovič, Matej Černe

Economic and Business Review

For more than six decades, creativity has been the cornerstone of diverse scientific disciplines, including psychology, sociology, and organizational behavior (OB) studies. Its fundamental role in guiding business prospects, driving development, and fueling economic growth has made it an essential research theme in many fields. Yet, despite its importance, scholars within the information systems (IS) discipline have highlighted the significant lack of attention paid to this concept in their research. The transformative role creativity plays in contemporary business environments, along with the ever-present need to innovate, compete, and grow, sparked our curiosity. Is creativity still an understudied area in the …

An Integer Programming Model To Optimize Us Army Deployment Cycle And Maximize Unit Availability, Grant R. Engel Mar 2024

An Integer Programming Model To Optimize Us Army Deployment Cycle And Maximize Unit Availability, Grant R. Engel

Theses and Dissertations

The goal of this paper is to determine an optimal cycle length, in months, that minimizes costs and maximizes availability for deploying units in the United States (US) Army. The US Army must be cost efficient while maintaining the flexibility required to adapt to dynamic mission demand. The current practice is to deploy units for a length between the range of 6 to 12 months; however, this varies from unit to unit and the best policy is not clear. We address these issues by forming a mathematical programming model with unique characteristics that distinguish it from others of similar design. …

School of Business Faculty Research

The expansion of the gig economy has provided opportunities and challenges for tax professionals. In this case study, a rideshare driver receives a Form 1099-K for side gig income and seeks tax advice from a friend, ultimately deciding to consult with a tax professional (the student) for income tax preparation. The friend provides a video that describes misleading information giving the students a chance to consider authoritative sources as they research appropriate reporting on an individual income tax return. The case learning objectives are: (1) distinguish between credible and noncredible sources of information; (2) evaluate expenses and income to determine …
