The focus of the present study is on identifying categories of learning strategies that are mostly used by Russian university students in an English Linguistics Program with a TEFL concentration. The more specific goal of the study is to offer a model of evaluation of the effectiveness of TEFL-oriented programs in terms of the language learning strategies their students use and recognize as pedagogically applicable to their EFL environment. This paper examines whether matrix notes, a graphic form of note taking, helped lower ability students in a college level introduction to Psychology course develop self-regulation and deep processing skills that would increase exam scores. Throughout the semester, students were surveyed and 16 were interviewed about study habits and perceptions of matrix notes. Exam scores and class averages were also considered. The study supported the hypothesis that students would develop deeper processing skills and earn higher exam scores. The purpose of the mixed methods study was to examine the phenomenon of transphenomenal simultaneity between teacher and student disposition that contributed to the phenomenological conflict of teacher self-positioning and positioning-by-others toward mathematics, mathematics teaching and learning. The intent was to provide a view of self-reported and observed middle school teacher and student experiences in mathematics, based on the analysis of affective dispositional characteristics within the context of its complexity.

Foot ulcers affect approximately 10% - 15% of patients with diabetes throughout their lifetimes, and by 2025, it is estimated the prevalence of diabetes will be 250 million people in the worldwide. There is increased potential for patients with peripheral neuropathy and peripheral vascular disease to suffer more foot injuries. These conditions reduce the normal pain sensations and healing of minor traumas, allowing the development of chronic non-healing ulcers, often preceding lower-extremity amputation. For public land grant institutions, involvement is largely inspired by a desire to maximize revenue opportunities and demonstrate economic relevance. This intrinsic case study addresses the efforts of a public, land grant and flagship institution, the University of Kentucky, to augment its technology transfer activities, with a specific focus on its attempts to spin off university technology-based firms. Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of the Georgia Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators

I investigated an experienced teacher and a beginning teacher who held similar beliefs about making mathematics learning fun yet held different interpretations of implementation. I found when a teacher equated fun with problem solving, her classroom practice included activities with higher-level thinking skills. In contrast, a teacher who defined fun as students’ enjoyment layered manipulatives and group work on top of procedures. Therefore, teachers need opportunities to reflect on the nature of student understanding as a precursor to shaping their views of fun.

The first part of this study sought to validate the System for Observing Dance Activities in the Classroom Environment (SODANCE) based off the System for Observing Fitness Instructional Time (SOFIT). Female students age 11-17 years (N=42) participated in an activity protocol of SOFIT activities and common dance activities to validate appropriate coding categories. Each student wore a heart rate monitor and accelerometer while participating in the activities lying, sitting, standing, walking, running, single leg balances, leg swings, pirouettes, and leaps. Heart rate, maximum heart rate percentage, heart rate reserve percentage, vertical axis accelerometer counts, and vector magnitude accelerometer counts for …
