The transformation into online learning during Covid 19 pandemic induces culture shock for students, teachers, and parents. Consequently, students present less participation in online learning. One of the stakeholders capable of improving students’ learning engagement is the school counselor. This study aims to examine secondary school students’ learning involved in the guidance and counseling online program. In this study, we employed a descriptive-quantitative research method, then collected data using a survey method and questionnaire. This study aimed to better understand academic advising by examining the perspectives of academic advisors at a Georgia Research 1 institution located in a large city. Initially, the purpose of this case study was to learn more about how academic advisors view effective strategies for boosting their students' performance. Nine academic advisors from a multi-campus institution in the southeastern United States were interviewed for this qualitative study. The participants were asked to complete 30 to 60-minute interviews with the researcher. By evaluating the personal responses used throughout the study, the researcher could identify frequent themes during data collection and analysis. …

This research addresses how student participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) project-based learning (PBL) education activities encourages underrepresented minority student achievement in STEM career field trajectories. Seven New Mexico high school counselors and 12 STEM organization personnel were interviewed during this study. Their responses represent the nuanced professional voices where New Mexico public education intersects with STEM student interest and cultural influence.

For students, STEM PBL can foster deep integration across educational disciplines and enhance STEM career trajectory interest and readiness. STEM education converged with PBL methodologies has the ability to leverage community support while broadening student networks. …

This study aims to describe prospective counselors’ perceptions of professional identity concepts in the guidance and counseling field. This study used a qualitative approach with an exploratory, descriptive design. Research data were collected through open questionnaires and focus group discussions. The data sources were fifteen guidance and counseling students from three different classes. Data analysis was carried out by searching for themes and determining the correlation between them to attain interpretation. This study investigates the effectiveness of solution-focused brief counseling and motivational interviewing in enhancing students’ self-disclosure. This study used a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The sixteen participants from State Junior High School 3 Comal, Indonesia, were selected through nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling. The participants were divided into experiment and control groups. For the research instruments, this study used The Self-Disclosure Questionnaire developed by Jourard to measure students’ self-disclosure. The obtained data were analyzed using the repeated measures ANOVA test. Purpose: The purpose of this mixed methods Delphi study was to identify the remote learning instructional strategies used by expert Southern California parent educators for implementing the anticipatory set, modeling, checking for understanding, and guided practice elements of Madeline Cheek Hunter’s Instructional Theory Into Practice (ITIP) framework. The study sought to identify how expert Southern California parent educators rated the effectiveness of the remote learning instructional strategies in the aforementioned elements of Hunter’s ITIP framework. Abstract

This study evaluated a counseling intervention called the University Turn Around Program (U-Turn) for college students experiencing mental health issues and low academic performance. Social Anxiety, Hostility, and Alcohol Use were measured on the CCAPS-34, and Attitude, Information Processing, Selecting Main Ideas, Test Strategies, and Using Academic Resources were measured on the LASSI-3. Paired samples t-tests revealed improvement for each measure (d = 0.45 to 1.09) supporting the U-Turn program’s inclusion in university counseling centers.

Student retention is a primary concern for community colleges since retention rates at the community college are unquestionably lower than retention rates at four-year institutions. First-generation college students are a high-risk student group of particular concern, because they make up over thirty percent of the undergraduate population and are two times more likely to exit college at the end of the first year of enrollment when compared to students whose parent or parents have a bachelor’s degree. From Career Choice To Career Change: Experiences Of Pgde Students In Tanzania, Jaquiline Amani

This article presents findings from a qualitative inquiry that explored the underlying motives of career change among Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) students in Tanzania. Focused group discussions (FGDs) were used to collect data to address two study objectives: first, explore the reasons why PGDE students tend to change their career; and second, determine PGDE students’ intentions to join and stay in the new career. The findings indicate that career change is motived by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Specifically, career change motives are due to job dissatisfaction, employment opportunities, wrong first career choice, and the desire for career growth. …
