The Analysis Of Rush Orders Risk In Supply Chain: A Simulation Approach, Amr Mahfouz, Amr Arisha 2010 Technological University Dublin

The Analysis Of Rush Orders Risk In Supply Chain: A Simulation Approach, Amr Mahfouz, Amr Arisha

Conference papers

Satisfying customers by delivering demands at an agreed time, with competitive prices, and in satisfactory quality level are crucial requirements for supply chain survival. The incident of risks in supply chain often causes sudden disruptions in the processes and consequently leads to customers losing their trust in a company’s competence. Rush orders are considered to be one of the main types of supply chain risks due to their negative impact on the overall performance. Using integrated definition modelling approaches (i.e. IDEF0 & IDEF3) and simulation modelling technique, a comprehensive integrated model has been developed to assess rush order risks and …

When The Risk Of System Use If Life Or Death: A Study Of The Adoption Of Surgical Technology, Jonathan B. Brewster 2010 Case Western Reserve University

When The Risk Of System Use If Life Or Death: A Study Of The Adoption Of Surgical Technology, Jonathan B. Brewster

Student Scholarship

Much of the research in IT innovation diffusion has been in the study of the diffusion of common technological innovations that intersect human activity in business processes (e.g. web-based e-commerce). There has been less research into the diffusion of specialized technologies in high risk environments where the potentially highly negative but low probability consequences of adopting the technology can affect the adoption decision. Such technologies are employed by highly trained individuals whose work is enhanced and transformed by the IT use. Computer assisted surgery (CAS) exemplifies this technology diffusion arena: surgeons must exhibit a high level of trust in such …

The Determinants Of Trade Credit Extension And The Problem Of Late Payment In The Malaysian Manufacturing Sector., Teh Chee Ghee

Student Works (2010-2019)

This study investigates the determinants of trade credit extension and the association between late payment from trade debtors and profitability in the Malaysian manufacturing sector. It is based on exploratory data analysis and ordinary least squares (OLS) regressions on a crosssectional sample of 383 and 287 public-listed manufacturing companies, respectively, using audited financial statements for the financial year ending 2007/2008.Investment in accounts receivables is even higher than in inventories in the Malaysian manufacturing sector. Contrary to previous studies, this study finds that large companies, manufacturers with higher liquidity and with higher collateral assets extend less trade credit, indicating that the listed …

Student Works (2010-2019)

Intellectual property and intellectual capital have become critical components of wealth creation. "Knowledge has become the pre-eminent economic resource, more important than raw material, more important, often, than money. Considered as an economic output, information and knowledge are more important than automobiles, oil, steel or any of the products of the industrial era‖ (Stewart, 2002). As the "carrier" of the talent of organizations become more significant than ever. Those employees with higher organizational performance characteristics are often entitled "core" or "talent" for their key networking status in creating organizational intelligent capital values. They can also be in fierce competition with …

The Study Of Antecedents Of Customer Loyalty Towards Established Mobile Service Providers In Malaysia., Nicole Yap Chen Yan 2010 Universiti Malaya

The Study Of Antecedents Of Customer Loyalty Towards Established Mobile Service Providers In Malaysia., Nicole Yap Chen Yan

Student Works (2010-2019)

Despite the high churn rates, the Malaysian telecommunications industry is growing. However, the lack of customer focus in this market has yielded one of the worst customer loyalty levels. The competitiveness of the domestic market has been further intensified with the implementation of mobile network portability (MNP), which has further complicated the issue of customer loyalty, as research has shown that better deals and low switching costs means that satisfied consumers never mind changing service provider. This shows that satisfaction no longer ensures loyalty (Grabowich & Guy, 2007). The purpose of this research is to identify the major antecedents that …

An Investigation Into The Unintended Consequences Of Downstream Channel Allowances, William Jason Rowe 2010 University of Kentucky

An Investigation Into The Unintended Consequences Of Downstream Channel Allowances, William Jason Rowe

University of Kentucky Doctoral Dissertations

Downstream channel allowances involve the practice of selling firms making payments to customers in exchange for distribution of a product. Such transactions occur most frequently in a business-to-business exchange. Although various forms of channel allowances have been investigated over the past three decades, the literature is lacking in guidance regarding whether or not, and to what extent, the salesperson should control these payments. Relying on the theoretical underpinnings of cognitive evaluation theory, this dissertation takes the initial step in understanding the effects of customer perceptions of salesperson control over allowances, with special attention to the impact on the customer-salesperson relationship. …

U.S. Academic Library Consortia: A Review, Judith E. Guzzy 2010 Johnson County Community College

U.S. Academic Library Consortia: A Review, Judith E. Guzzy

Sabbatical Projects

Few libraries are strangers to the concept of library consortia – institutional groups that collaborate to purchase software, systems, electronic resources, or other information‐sharing products and services. Most academic libraries are members of at least one consortium, and many belong to multiple consortia. However, consortia vary widely in the services they offer and in how they are structured. This project, carried out in the fall of 2009, focused on a review of academic library consortia that:

(A) Included two‐year colleges, either exclusively or as part of a joint consortial arrangement with four‐year colleges and universities; and

(B) Purchased or licensed …

Supplier Partnerships : Dimensions, Antecedents, And Outcomes, Dewan Rezaul Karim

Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)

Firm vertical relationships have received considerable attention in recent years in the relational and embeddedness approaches, yet pervasive confusion and uncertainty exist over the conception, conditions, and the benefits accrued from such linkages. The research is also known to be too diverse and scattered to provide any definitive explanations. Drawing on across the board literature reviews and extensive conversation with supply managers, I develop a conceptual model to study the concept of close ties between the manufacturers and their first-tier suppliers, identify their antecedent conditions and outcomes. I also investigate the variables that best predict the relationship formation and firm …

Applying Trait And Situational Leadership Approaches To Assess Theoretical Antecedents Of Managers' Work-Life Supportive Behaviors, Sue A. Epstein 2010 University at Albany, State University of New York

Applying Trait And Situational Leadership Approaches To Assess Theoretical Antecedents Of Managers' Work-Life Supportive Behaviors, Sue A. Epstein

Legacy Theses & Dissertations (2009 - 2024)

Managers' work-life supportive behaviors positively impact the usage of work-life programs, help reduce work-life conflict, and improve additional organizational and individual outcomes (e.g., job satisfaction, turnover intentions) (Foley, Linnehan, Greenhaus, & Weer, 2006). These behaviors include helping their subordinates rearrange their work schedules and encouraging subordinates' use of organizational work-life policies (e.g., flextime, job sharing, leave programs) (Mesmer-Magnus & Viswesvaran, 2006). While the benefits of such targeted leadership have been well studied, the predictors of managerial work-life supportive behaviors have received little attention. In this research, the trait and situational approaches to effective leadership are used as the basis for …
