The Impact Of A Millennial Business Leader’S Emotional Intelligence On Turnover In The Multigenerational Sales Occupational Field, William Michael Park
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore if emotional intelligence has an impact on a millennial leader’s efforts to reduce turnover in the multigenerational sales occupational field. Ben Peterson, CEO of BambooHR, hypothesized “replacing talent runs as high as two times’ annual salary” (Maurer, 2015). Among the highest risk for workforce turnover, salespeople were estimated to leave an organization twice as often as individuals in other professions. A critical field of study on a method for reducing workforce turnover and primary source in defining the employee emotions leading to turnover is the emotional intelligence concept. This study identified …

Sustainability Standards And Stakeholder Engagement: Lessons From Carbon Markets, Hans Rawhouser, Michael E. Cummings, Alfred Marcus
Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology Faculty Research
Stakeholders play an increasingly active role in private governance, including development of standards for measuring sustainability. Building on prior studies focused on standards and stakeholder engagement, we use an innovation management theoretical lens to compare stakeholder engagement and standards developed in two carbon markets: the Climate Action Reserve and the U.N.’s Clean Development Mechanism. We develop and test hypotheses regarding how different processes of stakeholder engagement in standard development affect the number, identity, and age of stakeholders involved, as well as the variation and quality of the resulting standards. In doing so, we contribute to the growing literature on stakeholder …

Three Essays On Shareholder Activism, Khoa Huu Nguyen
Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation includes three separate studies related to shareholder activism campaigns. The first study, presented in Chapter II, examines the question whether shareholder activism creates value for the targets’ shareholder. I find positive and significant abnormal returns on a day of the targeting announcement, 1.55%, and one day after, 1.33%. For Buy-and-Hold return analysis, I find that stock prices of the targets start to decrease 24 months before activism campaign announcements. Further results indicate that the targets are also underperforming to the market and to their matchings at pre-announcement periods. For post-announcement periods, however, targets’ stock returns recover and outperform …

The Full Range Leadership Model provides a framework for transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire leadership styles, as measured by the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ), while the ENTRELEAD scale has been used to assess the entrepreneurial leadership style. A review of the literature reveals limited empirical research focused on the effect of entrepreneurial leadership as applied in the contemporary marketplace. Limited research also exists on the effectiveness of the combination of these leadership styles for entrepreneurs in order to positively affect business performance and business longevity. Sodium-montmorillonite (Na+-MMT) was intercalation modified with octadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (OTAB) in aqueous suspension via an ion exchange mechanism. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) study indicates that OTAB is successfully intercalated into Na+-MMT layers and/or adsorbed on the surface of Na+-MMT. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed that the interlayer spacing of the Na+-MMT was extended with the content of OTAB increasing, and the maximum spacing can reach about 3.80 nm. Results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis reveals the morphologies change from spherical-like particles to high-aspect ratio flakes after modification. Different configurations of OTA+ chains within MMT interlayer are proposed …

According to SNI No. 3556:2010, table salt must be fortified with 30–80 ppm of potassium iodate. Lack of iodine intake results in a disorder known as the iodine deficiency disorder, which is generally manifested as mumps. …

Leadership Style And Employee Turnover A Mythical Relationship Or Reality?, Arwa Alkhawaja
M.A. in Leadership Studies: Capstone Project Papers
Abstract
Employee turnover is one of the most challenging dilemmas organizations have to deal with. A considerable amount of research indicates that turnover is mainly a result of a negative relationship between the leaders and managers in the workplace and their followers. However, seemingly conflicting studies seem to show that employees leave bosses they consider to be good at nearly the same rate as bosses they consider to be bad. If the relationship between the leadership and followers is not the sole factor in an employee’s decision to quit working, what other factors could be the main causes for employee’s …

The environmental and social risks of climate change are well known and perhaps inevitable. The economic and financial risks are less so. The many financial risks associated with climate change embedded in endowment portfolio fossil fuel holdings are leading many institutional stakeholders to enter into dialogue and take action. Our team’s goals were to assess whether the Clark University endowment portfolio faces any of these risks and evaluate the impacts on asset values. Our findings show that the Clark endowment does face these same …
