This manuscript focuses on Caribbean and American culture, in addition to, Guyanese Creolized English and American Standard English. The poems in this collection infuse oral and written poetic techniques to write back to the hierarchies of language and literature set by the British empire. Upon defense, this collection was distinguished as an affirming love letter to Black women.

Diamond Line Undergraduate Literary Magazine

In following up the premier issue of The Diamond Line, the fall 2020 editorial staff had big shoes to fill. We took on the challenge of creating something that would uphold the framework of Issue 1 while simultaneously branching out from its margins.

Like the editors before us, we had a vision, but ours took a new form — bright, warm colors. Sunset colors. Moons. Playful lines. Isolation and introspection. A stroll through an art gallery. Noted Mirrors seeks exploration, it seeks discovery it seeks experience. I think, like most of us, I’ve often had far more wonders than answers, but I often like it that way. Noted Mirrors tries to understand a romance that frightened, a friend taken away too soon that crippled. An unconditional love from grandparents and a mother that rescued. A relationship with an absent father that poisoned. Revelational relationships with familiar strangers that taught so much in the form of freeing.
