I Remember: Stories In Our Time We Don't Have Time To Tell. Thoughts That Go Too Fast. And Then We Die, Kajsa Isakson 2025 Uniarts Stockholm University of the The arts

I Remember: Stories In Our Time We Don't Have Time To Tell. Thoughts That Go Too Fast. And Then We Die, Kajsa Isakson

Ought: The Journal of Autistic Culture

As an AuDHDer and a writer, I approach storytelling from a neurodivergent perspective. My novella is titled I Remember: Stories From Our Time We Don’t Have Time to Tell. Thoughts That Go Too Fast. And Then We Die.

I Remember: Stories From Our Time We Don’t Have Time to Tell. Thoughts That Go Too Fast. And Then We Die. captures fleeting moments of being: of falling, the solitude of a crowded station, the vastness of the forest, the ocean, and the words by as Zora Neale Hurston and Claudia Rankine. The inevitability of death and the intensity of life.

My Mind In Middlemarch, Margaret A. Fisher 2025 University of California, Santa Barbara

My Mind In Middlemarch, Margaret A. Fisher

Ought: The Journal of Autistic Culture

“My Mind in Middlemarch” is a creative-critical essay and personal narrative of self-diagnosis. It was modeled in length and (somewhat) in style on Rebecca Mead’s essay, “Middlemarch and Me,” which appeared in The New Yorker in 2011 and was later expanded into her book, My Life in Middlemarch (2014). This personal essay narrates my journey to self-diagnosis and the initial discovery of my autism— a realization sparked by the resonance I found between my life and that of Dorothea Brooke, the central heroine of George Eliot’s classic British novel.

Black And Autistic In Neo-Nationalist America, Timotheus Gordon Jr 2025 The University of Illinois at Chicago

Black And Autistic In Neo-Nationalist America, Timotheus Gordon Jr

Ought: The Journal of Autistic Culture

In "Black and Autistic in a Neo-Nationalist America," Timotheus “T.J.” Gordon, Jr. explores the intersectional challenges faced by Black autistic individuals in a socio-political climate marked by rising neo-nationalism. Drawing on personal experiences and historical contexts, Gordon navigates the metaphorical tightrope of double consciousness, as articulated by W.E.B. DuBois, to highlight the precarious existence of those who do not conform to monolithic identities. The essay critiques the melting pot analogy of American culture, advocating instead for a pluralistic society that recognizes and values diverse identities. Through a blend of autobiographical narrative and scholarly analysis, Gordon underscores the systemic marginalization of …

Tellings Of The Pacific Ocean: A Landscape-Based Approach For Multispecies Design And Hci, Maliheh Ghajargar 2025 Chapman University

Tellings Of The Pacific Ocean: A Landscape-Based Approach For Multispecies Design And Hci, Maliheh Ghajargar

Engineering Faculty Articles and Research

Environmental disturbances induced by climate change have caused significant changes in our ecosystems and are threatening the health of our environments. As a response to this issue, a growing body of work has emerged in HCI and design, which seeks to foreground more-than-human stories in support of making more sustainable and just futures. This research contributes to this broad agenda by probing graphic novels as a multispecies storytelling method for design and HCI. Combining ideas from Anna Tsing’s adventures of landscape and from HCI and design’s use of sequential art (e.g., storyboards), we use landscape as the main protagonist of …

Economy Of Motion, Yatin Srinivash Ramesh Babu 2025 Nova Southeastern University

Economy Of Motion, Yatin Srinivash Ramesh Babu

be Still

This poem reflects the elegance and necessity of precision in medicine, particularly surgery, where "economy of motion" can mean the difference between life and death. Inspired by observing the intentionality of a surgeon's hands, I aimed to capture the poetry in their discipline—an artistry rooted in restraint.

Words / Ideas / Poetry, Stephen W. Fried, Samantha Tamburri

Open Educational Resources

words / ideas /poetry is a series of three creative writing exercises with an online and pen-and-paper version of each. The first uses word association to create a lexicon from which a poem and experimental prose piece emerge; the second uses rhymes to create three poems of increasing complexity and the third is a group activity that generates a collective poem about romantic relationships. The activities and instructions for administering and participating are accessed through an online hub that hosts the activities and related material.

Seattle's New Edition, Kyle Gray

Graphic Communication

My project is to create and develop the branding of the NBA's newest franchise: The Seattle Grunge. Grunge is a genre of alternative rock that emerged in the mid-1980s particularly in the city of Seattle. With my team, I am looking for seamless cohesion with other logos in the Association while establishing an emotional connection between the fanbase and its city. The project will consist of a complete creation of the team’s logo/branding, court, 3 jersey designs (home/away/city connect), merchandise, season ticket packaging, and a full marketing report (team logo exposure/connection to the city).

Our Relentless Objectification Of Native Americans: As Exemplified By Louise Erdrich And Cherie Dimaline, Lena Kozubek 2025 Kennesaw State University

Our Relentless Objectification Of Native Americans: As Exemplified By Louise Erdrich And Cherie Dimaline, Lena Kozubek

The Kennesaw Journal of Undergraduate Research

Indigenous communities relentlessly challenge the normalized commodification of their culture and beliefs. One way they actively address these oppressions is through storytelling. Their accounts educate readers and encourage them to re-frame modern perspectives and how stereotypes affect Native communities. Their stories are not a simple myth; instead, they serve as an active participant to combat actions that treat Indigenous people as an anomaly. We should treat Native Americans as human beings who invariably struggle with present-day degradations, commodification, and continual displacement. Indigenous authors reclaim their narrative by using their historical context and storytelling skills to dissect the parallels between fact …

Begin Again: Blooming, Samantha Hope Boulgarides 2025 Portland State University

Begin Again: Blooming, Samantha Hope Boulgarides

University Honors Theses

Begin Again: blooming is a poetry thesis that explores the complexities of trauma, recovery, and identity through a feminist lens. Drawing from the lyric tradition, each poem serves as an emotional excavation, using voice, fragmentation, and address to create intimacy while resisting linear narrative and traditional poetic conventions.

The collection examines how pain imprints itself on the body and memory, with pieces like "Dear Dad," "Clean," and "My Baby" demonstrating the tension between tenderness and pain. Visually experimental and emotionally charged, these poems refuse erasure, reclaiming agency through raw articulation and form. Rather than seeking resolution, the speaker circles truth, …

Head Of Roses, Remy Levine 2025 Portland State University

Head Of Roses, Remy Levine

University Honors Theses

Head of Roses is a slow-burn religious horror novel, the first five chapters of which constitute this thesis project. In order to examine its themes -- that of grief and trauma, guilt and shame, motherhood, religion and faith, and the redemptive power of love -- the novel carefully subverts religious horror genre conventions regarding the traditional roles of protagonist and site of horror. Head of Roses deconstructs these genre archetypes with an inverted narrative: the protagonist inadvertently produces the horrific element and the religious institution become the victims. Rather than addressing tensions in faith through demonic or occult subject material, …
