On 17 November 2014, Goshawk Environmental Consulting, Inc. (Goshawk) conducted a cultural resources survey of the proposed ±28,000-foot (±8,534-meter [m]) Naylor Jones Unit 13 Block A Gathering Pipeline right-of-way (ROW) in McMullen County, Texas, at the request of EOG Resources, Inc. (EOG). The Area of Potential Effect (APE) consisted of a proposed ROW measuring 75 feet (23 m) in width which crossed a first-order tributary of Muerto Creek, the Frio River, and the Mossy Slough. A cultural resources survey, including shovel testing and surface inspection, was conducted within the three review areas which totaled approximately 4.6 acres (1.9 hectares [ha]). …

On October 28, archeologists from POWER Engineers, Inc. (POWER) conducted an intensive archeological survey for the proposed Long Road electrical substation project (Project) in Denton County, Texas. The survey was undertaken on behalf of Denton Municipal Electric (DME) for a proposed substation facility that will connect with the existing Texas Municipal Power Agency 138 kV transmission line extending from the Denton North Interchange to the Arco Substation. No archeological materials were recorded as a result of the survey.

The City of Leander contracted HDR Engineering, Inc. (HDR) to conduct an intensive cultural resources survey in advance of proposed road improvements to Hero Way (Old FM 2243) in the City of Leander, Williamson County, Texas. The project consists of the renovation of 2.7 miles of roadway with an Area of Potential Effects (APE) that includes approximately 1.9 miles of new linear Right-of-Way (ROW) and 3.1 acres of non-linear APE. In July and August of 2014, under Texas Antiquities Permit #6914, Hicks & Company completed an intensive archeological survey of the Alazan Creek and Martinez Creek Hike and Bike Trail Improvements Project in Bexar County, Texas. Since construction of the new trails and park improvements will take place on land to be owned by the City of San Antonio, it is subject to the Antiquities Code of Texas. Additionally, the project will require permit coordination with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, necessitating compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended.

In conjunction with the proposed construction of the southwest segment of State Highway 45 in southern Travis County, the Texas Department of Transportation sponsored archeological testing and data recovery efforts at the Ransom Williams farmstead. Prewitt and Associates, Inc., conducted an interdisciplinary community-based historic archeological study of the farmstead from 2005 through 2011. Extensive archival research reveals that the 45-acre farm was owned and occupied by Ransom Williams and his wife Sarah, both former slaves, from about 1871 to ca. 1905. An intensive archeological survey was completed in order to inventory and evaluate archeological resources within the footprint of improvements to Farm-to-Market (FM) 2001 in Hays and Caldwell Counties, Texas. The archeological area of potential effects (APE) totals 8.5 miles (13.7 kilometers), extending from the intersection of Interstate Highway 35 (I-35) and FM 2001 to just east of State Highway (SH) 21 (CSJ 1776-01-018). In October 2014, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to inventory and evaluate archeological resources within the footprint of proposed road widening along Fairgrounds Road between Loop 250 and Pecan Avenue in northeast Midland, Midland County, Texas. The archeological area of potential effects (APE) is approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) of existing and additional proposed right-of-way. At the time of this investigation, a preferred alignment was still under consideration. Therefore, the entire proposed and existing right-of-way for all alternative alignments was surveyed. On August 8 and 12, 2014, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to evaluate potential archeological impacts associated with the proposed construction of a new natural gas generation facility within a 98.43-acre (39.8-hectare) parcel in Ellis and Hill Counties, Texas. Melissa M. Green (Principal Investigator) and Bill Bond of Cox|McLain Environmental Consulting, Inc. (CMEC) carried out the survey for Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, Inc.
