OSL Students' Service-Learning Project Output: Booklet

此書的由來，緣於「服務研習藝行大使小組」留意到嶺大校園的建築及樹木同樣具備觀賞價值，遂進行實地考察及資料搜集，設計了嶺大校園建築及樹木導賞路線，並得到嶺大服務研習處推薦，於2015-17年間為中文系「記遊書寫」課程設計及安排校園建築和樹木導賞活動，得到同學們非常正面的回應，之後更有同學參與小組，為校內同學及社區人士提供校園導賞服務。

2017年，「服務研習藝行大使小組」與嶺大服務研習處合作，在賽馬會「關愛．服務．研習@ 屯門」計劃的支持下，配合「記遊書寫」及「創意數碼影像」兩個不同學科的服務研習項目，將有關嶺大校園建築和樹木的導賞資料整理，編寫為《嶺南校園—建築遊賞》和《嶺南校園—賞樹札記》。

《嶺南校園—賞樹札記》介紹共三十二種樹木，其中二十九種在校園核心範圍內。小組將校園分成A至H八區，用實地拍攝的樹木照片作介紹，以提供準確的環境線索去追蹤樹木的位置。各個樹種的介紹內容包括︰學名、科屬、原產地、生長環境、習性、用途、形態特色及一些相關趣味知識，還有一組四句的「觀賞提要」，介紹各樹種獨特之處，「賞樹、識樹」一章則提供了辨認樹種的基本參考資料。

Anthocyanins are well known for their health-promoting benefits. The goal of this study was to evaluate a distillation-based membrane technology to concentrate aqueous anthocyanins extracted from muscadine grape pomace using polypropylene (PP) or ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE) membranes. A hot water extraction method was utilized to extract the anthocyanins from the pomace. A pre-experimental run using DI water as feed was conducted to optimize the NaCl brine concentration for osmotic distillation and it was determined that 4M was the optimal concentration. STF receives produce from local farmers to distribute to residents in low-income housing sites throughout Northwest Arkansas. According to Feeding America, food insecurity affected 14.3% Washington County, Arkansas’ population in 2016. Previous studies show that EPA and DHA inhibit muscle formation but promote adipogenesis. The consumption of toxic fescue by beef cattle results in several adverse physiological effects such as reduced reproductive success, severe vasoconstriction resulting in hoof sloughing, low body condition scores, hyperthermia, decreased prolactin levels, and reduced hair shedding. The purpose of this study is to characterize bacterial community of the reproductive tract as a potential predictor for toxin exposure. One-hundred fall-calving crossbred cows were allocated to graze Toxic (Toxic: n=50) or Novel (Novel: n= 50) fescue pastures for five months (March-August). Contact theory (Allport, 1954) served as the framework to investigate undergraduate kinesiology students’ attitudes toward children with disabilities after a service-learning (SL) experience. Fifty-one undergraduate kinesiology students enrolled in an adapted physical education (APE) course served as the experimental group, and 31 undergraduate kinesiology students enrolled in an introductory kinesiology course served as the control group. The Attitudes Toward Disabled Persons Scale–Form A (Yuker, Block, & Younng, 1970) was administered at three different times: before, during, and after the SL.
