Canada Teaches Some Simple Lessons, Chester Smolski
Canada Teaches Some Simple Lessons, Chester Smolski
Smolski Texts
"It's an odd person who doesn't marvel at the cities of Canada on his or her return from a visit to our neighbor to the north. Whether this be a trip to Canada's largest city of Montreal or to a Providence-sized Quebec City, people speak of the cleanliness, the safety, the beauty, the good public transport and the relaxed way of living. What accounts for the livability of these urban centers? And is there something that we can learn from the Canadians that we can use in our own cities?"
Providence Home Rule, Chester Smolski
Providence Home Rule, Chester Smolski
Smolski Texts
"The opposition bumper stickers have already appeared. In bright fluorescent colors to catch the unsuspecting eye, the message is loud and clear--'Reject Home Rule Charter.' Why should there be this opposition, and who are the people against this progressive move toward better local government?"
Affirmative Marketing Handbook: A Guide To Integrated Housing, Judy Wunker, Wilma Scott, Donald L. Demarco, Dudley Onderdonk
Affirmative Marketing Handbook: A Guide To Integrated Housing, Judy Wunker, Wilma Scott, Donald L. Demarco, Dudley Onderdonk
Park Forest
From the Preface:
As fair housing laws have been adopted during the late 1960's and the 70's, tools have been forged for implementing integration and fighting discrimination and segregation. One such tool, affirmative marketing, has come to public attention as the implementation of affirmative action became an important issue in the United States. For those groups interested in avoiding (re)segregation and promoting integrated communities through affirmative marketing, literature on the subject is sparse and scattered. Because of the need for a comprehensive guide, we pulled together existing information, and pooled our own ideas, observations and experiences concerning affirmative marketing to …

How Cubans Reshaped Downtown Miami, Chester Smolski
Smolski Texts
"It was just this past week that the last flight of refugees likely to come out of Castro's Cuba arrived at Miami International Airport. The hightly emotional reunion of familites that had been seperated for years was a reminder of the freedom which we enjoy in this country and for which many others are still waiting to come here to also enjoy."
New Office Building Is Good News, But Questions Of Planning Raised, Chester Smolski
New Office Building Is Good News, But Questions Of Planning Raised, Chester Smolski
Smolski Texts
"The latest piece of news concerning a possible new office building for Providence is just another example of the renewed interested in the downtown of Rhode Island's capital city. Revitalization, resurgence, renewwal--call it what you will--there is no question that the prognosis for the ailing city center is excellent and the "patient" is now on the road to recovery.

The Impact Of The Federal Stamp Program On Food Purchasing Habits Of The Socioeconomic Class, Joe Turner
The Impact Of The Federal Stamp Program On Food Purchasing Habits Of The Socioeconomic Class, Joe Turner
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The implementation of the Federal Food Stamp program affords an opportunity to do responsible research on this topic due to the manner in which the program is administered. The fact that coverage is authorized on a county basis rather than a state-wide basis, which requires that each individual county request and apply for the Stamp Program, provided the availability of a sample area in southern Kentucky where five contiguous counties existed, three of which were participating in the program and two of which were not. This permitted both a control and experimental group from which to draw a sample.
God And Caesar In Nebraska: A Study Of The Legal Relationship Of Church And State, 1854 -1954, Orville H. Zabel
God And Caesar In Nebraska: A Study Of The Legal Relationship Of Church And State, 1854 -1954, Orville H. Zabel
Papers from the University Studies series (University of Nebraska)
At a time when the control over the relationship of church and state seems to be shifting from the state governments to the Federal Government, it was decided to undertake a case study of the church-state problem in Nebraska. Such a study, stretching over a century, appeared to make possible a contribution to the understanding and solution of problems which have recently gained prominence and which will probably appear frequently in coming years. Any contribution, however slight, to an understanding of what constitutes the most desirable relationship of the church and the state may be of considerable value. Such a …
