Multiple Perspectives On Multimedia In The Large Lecture, Helen A. Moore, Timothy D. Pippert
Multiple Perspectives On Multimedia In The Large Lecture, Helen A. Moore, Timothy D. Pippert
Department of Sociology: Faculty Publications
Students, graduate instructors and the classroom professor responded in journals, on objective tests, in focus groups and on survey questionnaires to the effects of computer media in four large lecture classes. Graduate instructors and students responded in focus groups to multimedia technology with consistent themes, including enhancement of cognitive strategies (note taking and organization of ideas) and motivation. However, students also expressed distancing from the instructor. Student achievement outcomes using pre- and post-test scores showed no differences across two experimental applications of multimedia presentations: static and dynamic. Discussion of findings emphasizes the need to balance considerations of resource scarcity and …

The Relationship Between Values And Religiosity In Adolescents, Paul F. Russell
The Relationship Between Values And Religiosity In Adolescents, Paul F. Russell
Theses : Honours
The current work examined the areas of religiosity, values and adolescent development. The recent literature with regard to the nature of religiosity as a measure of an individual'' commitment to a particular religion was explored. The issues of measurement and definition were outlined, and a position was taken as to the multi-dimensionality of religiosity. The recent work on values by Schwartz (1992) was also explored. Values were defined and the theory of a universal set of values, as well as the relationship of values to each other was outlined, along with the organisation of those individual values into value types. …

An Exploration Of The Relationship Between School Setting And The Self-Esteem Of Grade-Six Girls, Maureen Thoroughgood Kropf
Theses and Dissertations (Comprehensive)
This study had three purposes: 1) to explore the relationship of school setting and the self-esteem of grade-six girls, with setting defined in terms of elementary (K-6), middle (6-8) and combined (K-8); 2) to explore the relationship of school setting and the self-esteem of grade-six girls, with setting defined in terms of urban and rural; 3) to contribute Canadian knowledge to the predominantly American research on the relationship between self-esteem of students and school settings and transitions. Two major theories from this literature emerge. The first, a cumulative change theory, suggests that the cumulative effects of developmental changes and the …
