There have been a few studies related to the religion education movement of the Reorganized Church, but little has been done to research the total program of the Department of Religious Education and its development.
The purpose of this study was to trace the historical development of the religious education program of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1860 to its present organization as the Department of Religious Education; to summarize the church's philosophy of education; and to determine the present status of the Department of Religious Education of the Reorganized Church.

Introduction

The concept of Deferred Gratification refers to the practice of postponing immediate satisfactions so that future goals may be gained. Today's activities are view-example, renouncing emotional impulses will permit eventual emotional satisfaction. Education is viewed as an investment in the future prospects. Saving money is done for future satisfactions. Putting off marriage until one has a good job is perceived as the means to greater mobility.

The major purposes of this study have been (1) to define and coordinate principles and policies for religious education in Pacific elementary and secondary schools that are operated by the Pacific Board of Education of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and (2) to provide a manual of instructions for administrators and teachers which will help them attain the objectives outlined in this study.
Religious education in the Pacific Schools is an integral part of the entire curriculum, receiving emphasis in religion classes. The Church Seminary system, in contrast, is supplemental to public secular education.

This thesis is a comparative study of the effects of the social environments of two types of schools on the acculturation process among Mescalero Apache Indian high school students. The two types of schools were an Indian boarding school, located some distance from the reservation, and integrated public schools, located in small town near the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation. The Indian school removes the children from the home environment and its influences but places them where the opportunity for social interaction with members of the "Anglo" society is greater.

This study was made for the purpose of comparing the intelligence, scholastic achievement, retardtion , educational training after the elementary school, type of employment and marital status of two groups of individals who attended the George B. Loomis School of the Public Schools of Indianapolis, Indiana in the ten-year period, 1931 to 1941. The members of one group lived in an institution under the direction of a family welfare organization while the members of group two lived in natural homes. Many from both groups are adults now.
