Purpose: To investigate the effects of a single-session character strengths intervention (CSI) on improving identity formation and self-efficacy, and reducing self-doubt of Malaysian emerging adults enrolled in tertiary education. Method: A randomized active-controlled trial with pretest, posttest, 2-week follow-up was conducted. A total of 129 undergraduate students (age 18 – 25) were randomly assigned to either the CSI or the control group, which participated in a gatekeeper training for suicide prevention. This study aims to develop a religiosity scale called tadayyun, based on an Islamic approach rooted in the Qur'an, hadith, and the opinions of scholars. The research sample consisted of 269 participants residing throughout Indonesia, ranging in age from 18 to 40 years old. Data were collected using the tadayyun scale, which comprised 27 items derived from literature studies. The reliability test results, measured using Cronbach's Alpha, yielded a value of 0.839, indicating good internal consistency. All items demonstrated satisfactory discrimination abilities (p>0.138). Focusing on social bonds, engagement in positive activities, belief in social norms, and commitment to legitimate goals, the article demonstrates that strong social investment can reduce the tendency of drug abuse among adolescents. Through empirical data and case studies, this article highlights the importance of strengthening social resilience in designing effective prevention strategies concerning drug abuse among adolescents.
