Copyright And Open Licenses: A Unit For Lis Students, Nancy Henke

Open Course Materials

This curriculum, developed as the final project for the Creative Commons for Academic Librarians Certificate course, is designed for students in introductory Library and Information Science courses. The unit offers a broad overview of fundamental concepts in copyright, fair use, and open licensing. The materials include readings, multimedia resources, discussion questions, and practical assignments. The curriculum emphasizes adaptability, catering to diverse audiences and educational settings. The curriculum addresses real-world challenges faced by librarians, explores the nuances of open licenses, and guides students through hands-on activities, fostering a deeper understanding of copyright issues in the digital age.

The high rate of unemployment among university graduates in Library and Information Science (LIS) is alarming. This paper investigates the level of awareness of infopreneurship studies among LIS undergraduate students of Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, Kogi State. The study is a survey design. The population of the study comprises of 460 students from year 1 to year 4. This study aimed to determine the effect of work-life balance and technostress creators on the psychological well-being of librarians in the Province of South Cotabato. This study used a non-experimental quantitative research design using descriptive correlational analysis. The questionnaires utilized in the research were adjusted to the goals of the investigation. The researcher polled a total of 83 librarians who were chosen through stratified sampling. The statistical techniques used to analyze and interpret the data are mean and Pearson's r. Seeking And Finding Research Collaborators: An Exploratory Study Of Librarian Motivations, Strategies, And Success Rates, Ngoc-Yen Tran, Emily Chan

Library and information science research is increasingly conducted in collaboration; a phenomenon that has been observed, but there is a lack of clarity on the factors that motivate librarians to seek research collaborators. This exploratory study presents librarians’ motivations, strategies, and their relative success rates for finding collaborations. Survey results indicate that the most prevalent motivators for seeking a collaborator were to acquire expertise that one lacked, sustain research interest, and obtain a sounding board. Workplaces, being open to collaborations, and attending conferences and meetings were the top selected strategies for finding research collaborators with the highest relative success rates.
