It provides a few examples of utilizing ChatGPT, Bard and Bing Chat Enterprise for tasks such as creating a MARC record, classifying a book and assigning thesaurus terms. The discussion covers AI’s potential in cataloging and metadata within the library field, along with its advantages and disadvantages. It also addresses how cataloging and metadata professionals should navigate the integration of AI in this new environment. Working with Digital Initiatives, digital humanities and history faculty members, the Metadata Librarian at the University of Central Florida Libraries has added Linked Open Data (LOD) to Ex Libris’ Alma for the PRINT Migration Network: Pemberton Correspondence Collection. Wikidata entries on people and places in this collection are created and their Uris are linked to the cataloging records. Meanwhile, Library of Congress (LC) linked open data vocabularies, such as LC Subject Headings, LC Name entities, FAST headings and genre headings are also added to the records. GeoNames are incorporated into the University Libraries’ Institutional Repository records and are under consideration …

With equity, diversity, and inclusion in mind, and to improve access to the juvenile biographies in the University of Central Florida Curriculum Materials Center (CMC) Library, librarians from cataloging, CMC and ILL, analyzed 952 bibliographic records and enhanced subject headings with biographees' gender, race, nationality and other information. Statistics were compiled to measure subject headings for biases and inequalities. Local subjects, LCSH, LC Demographic Group Terms and Homosaurus terms were added to aid students to discover materials for the diverse population they will teach.

In order to increase the value and discoverability of their metadata, libraries explore options for making that data available and useful outside of the data silo of the library world through the adoption of Linked Data and Linked Open Data (LOD). OCLC Research conducted its 2018 International Linked Data Survey for Implementers. Results showed that 41% of the linked data projects/services described in 2018 were reported as using Wikidata as a source they consumed. This study investigates social and metadata inclusiveness, on whose voices are underrepresented, how biases are presented, in which way and which domain, and how it affects the library community. It is based on a preliminary analysis of literature in this topic, and the text analyzed includes title, author, abstract and keywords for 26 articles and books. Their bibliographic information was extracted from my Zotero library to NVivo, and over 200 nodes were coded from the different literature, with 5, 6, 10 or more nodes for each literature entry. The Social Media Group introduced the creation of the Tag Library to the CALA community in Summer 2018, but the tags were limited to member-only, internal use.
