Civil strife, human sufferings are the signs pronounced by international media. There are political ramifications of the Darfur crisis, however, there are also the problems of water availability and methods of utilization. The current paper analyzes field data survey collected from the town of Kutum, Northern Darfur where the civil crisis started. The focus is on studying methods and utilization efficiency in the area. It is concluded here that it is important to revise technological transfer to me integrated with the indigenous knowledge for better and sustainable water use in Kutum, Darfur.

The current paper reviews impacts of trade liberalization on developing countries and levels of poverty. The expected impacts of multilateral trade liberalization on wage levels and subsequent poverty are implored. Empirical Auto-regression models are visualized to develop a different set of strategies and programs to provide real benefits to the poor with real benefits. It is concluded that GARCH updating formula takes the weighted average of the unconditional variance, the squared residual for the first observation and the starting variance and estimates the variance of the second observation. This paper investigates water use in a rural village in semi-arid of Darfur region. Water use is viewed from the perspective of four production sectors: agriculture, rural industry, trade and services as well as domestic: drinking, cooking and sanitary uses. Water for these uses may be from three sources: rain water, surface water, and groundwater. This study focuses on groundwater. Results of a detailed survey indicate that groundwater use is dominated by agricultural activities including irrigated vegetables and grains, tree crops, and animal rearing. Unregistered employment poses two types of challenges to the researchers: (i) reliably evaluating the wage dierential between formally and informally employed and (ii) accounting for the push and pull factors in general and the eects of business cycle in particular. We address the former with the use of propensity score matching and analyse the evolution of the estimated average compensations and the dierentials with reference to GDP and unemployment fluctuations. The aim of present paper is to examine the role of financial development on FDI-Growth nexus using annual data over the period of 1975-2008. The results show that financial development is playing its role well but not satisfactory. This study will provide new guidelines for policy making authorities for Portuguese's economy. The manuscript applies the unrestricted error correction model (ECM) estimator advanced by Inder (1993) while ARDL bounds testing approach is employed to find cointegration among variables. Stationarity issue is investigated by Ng-Perron unit root test. The results show that financial development stimulates economic growth for the case of Portugal. …

This paper seeks to analyze the presence of long memory in the Indian foreign exchange market using a family of tests. The study has used Nominal Effective Exchange Rate (NEER) series as the data source to check the possible presence of long memory. Three R/S statistics viz. Hurst, Mandelbrot’s and Lo’s modified R/S statistics as well as two semi-parametric tests viz. Robinson’s Gaussian semi-parametric estimate and Andrews-Guggenberger modified GPH estimator are used for the purpose of analysis. All the results conclusively prove the presence of strong version of long memory in the Indian foreign exchange market.

Abstract: Central banks, in executing monetary policy, while pursuing traditional objectives, such as the control of inflation, may try also to promote financial stability. In this paper, we explore a simple monetary policy game played between the central bank and the financial sector. The central bank can be of two types, one traditional and the other concerned with controlling the financial markets; however, the financial sector is unsure which, due to incomplete information.
