The Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry is largest in the United States with a total value of $660 Billion in 2020. The global M&E industry is valued at approximately $2 Trillion. New technologies have allowed for the advent of streaming services for music, television, film, books, video games, and more. Streaming services allow media exports to be easily accessed by consumers domestically and abroad.

Computer & Information Science: Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Disinformation Detection and Analytics
Disinformation, which is fabricated, misleading content spread with the intent to deceive others, is accumulating substantial engagements and reaching a vast audience on Instagram. However, the temporary nature of the platform and the security guidelines that remove malicious content make studying this disinformation a challenge. The only way to access removed content and banned accounts that are no longer on the live web is by searching the web archives. Social imagery, the visuals shared by users via various platforms and applications, may be analyzed to elicit something of massmind (and individual) thinking. This work involves the exploration of seven topics from various subject areas (global public health, environmentalism, human rights, political expression, and human predation) through social imagery and data from social media. The coding techniques involve manual coding, the integration of multiple social data streams, computational text analysis, data visualizations, and other combinations of approaches.

Ilhan, his wife Nura, and their children resided near Kabul, in a region where both the Taliban and ISIS were active. As Shias, Ilhan’s family faced numerous menaces, including threats from ISIS that they would be beheaded if they did not display ISIS flags. Ilhan’s sister Radwa, who is deaf and mute, was forced to marry a regional leader. In addition to being threatened on religious grounds, Ilhan’s family was also threatened by an elder of their town. Evaluation Of Screen Time In Children, Mohammad Mertaban
Family Medicine Clerkship Student Projects
An evaluation of screen time and media use in children. This project looks to education healthcare practitioners about the effects of current media practices in the United States on children. A presentation was given to healthcare practitioners at a family medicine practice and a brochure was created to distribute to families in the waiting room. Practitioners reported an increase in knowledge regarding the subject of screen time in children, an increase in their comfort level in in discussing these effects with patients, and increase in their ability to effectively communicate the media guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
