Performance Analysis Of Numerical Integration Methods In The Trajectory Tracking Application Of Redundant Robot Manipulators, Emre Sariyildiz, Hakan Temeltas

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Differential kinematic is one of the most important solution methods in robot kinematics. The main advantage of the differential kinematic method is that it can be easily implemented any kind of mechanisms. Also, an accurate and efficient kinematic based trajectory tracking application can be easily implemented by using this method. In differential kinematic method, we use Jacobian as a mapping operator in the velocity space. Inversion of Jacobian matrix transforms the desired trajectory velocities, which are the linear and angular velocities of the end effector, into the joint velocities. The joint velocities are required to be integrated to obtain the …

A Comparison Study Of The Numerical Integration Methods In The Trajectory Tracking Application Of Redundant Robot Manipulators, Emre Sariyildiz, Hakan Temeltas

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Differential kinematic has a wide range application area in robot kinematics. The main advantage of the differential kinematic is that it can be easily implemented any kind of mechanisms. In differential kinematic method, Jacobian is used as a mapping operator in the velocity space. The joint velocities are required to be integrated to obtain the pose of the robot manipulator. This integration can be evaluated by using numerical integration methods, since the inverse kinematic equations are highly complex and nonlinear. Thus, the performances of the numerical integration methods affect the trajectory tracking application. This paper compares the performances of numerical …

Contact Element Method With Two Relative Coordinates And Its Application To Prediction Of Strip Profile Of A Sendzimir Mill, Hai-Liang Yu, Xiang-Hua Liu, Gyoo-Taek Lee

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

A new numerical method, Contact Element Method with Two Relative Coordinates, has been developed. The main features of this method are that element meshing depends on the contact length between rolls or between the work roll and the strip, and that each element has two relative coordinates based on two separate contact objects. With this method, a program code “Setup Models for Sendzimir Mill” (SM4SM) has been developed for prediction of the strip profile of a 20-high Sendzimir mill with double AS-U-Roll systems. The strip profiles are predicted under various rolling conditions, such as the positions of AS-U racks, the …

Experience In The Application Of Iec/Tr 61000-3-6 To Harmonic Allocation In Transmission Systems, T J. Browne, V J. Gosbell, S Perera, D A. Robinson, L M. Falla, P J. Windle, A C. D Perera

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Technical report IEC/TR 61000-3-6 is widely used as a guide to harmonic management in HV and MV networks, assisting in coordination of harmonic levels between utility and customer. In 2001, Australia and New Zealand adopted the harmonic standard AS/NZS 61000.3.6, which closely follows the above IEC technical report. As a result, transmission utilities and connected loads are required by government regulations to abide by the harmonic allocations set by the standard. The technical report contains some useful general principles which can be applied to the harmonic management of power systems. However, unexpected difficulties can be found when attempts are made …

Ozchi 2005 Doctoral Consortium Application, Robert B. K. Brown

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Formal methods of generating and specifying requirements have a chequered past when it comes to dealing with interface design. The Human Computer Interface (HCI) community have not adopted formal methods with open arms [Paterno 96]. If the accurate determination of stakeholder requirements is a significant factor in determining software project success, this thesis turns to a theory based in psychology and sociology to understand these capricious actors, the misunderstanding of whose whims can bring down 70% of software projects. This thesis will deploy Activity Theory as a basis for a proposed system design method and present initial conceptions and some …

Box-Minus Operation And Application In Sum-Product Algorithm, S Tong, P Wang, D Wang, X Wang Jan 2005

Box-Minus Operation And Application In Sum-Product Algorithm, S Tong, P Wang, D Wang, X Wang

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

A new formula for box-minus operation, which separates the box-minus operation into sign and reliability operations, was derived. Its application in the sum-product algorithm (SPA) was also investigated. Both box-plus operation and box-minus operation were divided into sign operation and reliability operation. The results show that on using the box-minus operation, SPA can be implemented with less decoding latency and complexity.

Mr Damper And Its Application For Semi-Active Control Of Vehicle Suspension System, G Z. Yao, F F. Yap, G Chen, Weihua Li, S H. Yeo

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

In this paper, a semi-active control of vehicle suspension system with magnetorheological (MR) damper is presented. At first a MR damper working in flow mode is designed. Performance testing is done for this damper with INSTRON machine. Then a mathematical model, Bouc–Wen model, is adopted to characterize the performance of the MR damper. With optimization method in MATLAB® and experimental results of MR damper, the coefficients of the model are determined. Finally, a scaled quarter car model is set up including the model of the MR damper and a semi-active control strategy is adopted to control the vibration of …

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Genomic DNAs prepared from 168 isolates of Escherichia coli 0157:H7 were analyzed for restriction fragment length polymorphisms on Southern blots probed with bacteriophage A DNA. The isolates analyzed included strains from a recent large multistate outbreak of E. coli 0157:H7 infection associated with consumption of poorly cooked beef in restaurants, a day-care center cluster, and temporally and geographically unrelated isolates. E. coli 0157:H7 isolates recovered from the incriminated meat and from 61 (96.8%) of 63 patients from Washington and Nevada possessed identical A restriction fragment length patterns. The A restriction fragment length polymorphisms observed in 11 (91.7%) of 12 day-care …

Effect Of Postinfection Application Of Phosphorous (Phosphonic) Acid On The Incidence And Sporulation Of Plasmopara Viticola On Grapevine, T J. Wicks, P A. Magarey, M F. Wachtel, A B. Frensham Jan 1991

Effect Of Postinfection Application Of Phosphorous (Phosphonic) Acid On The Incidence And Sporulation Of Plasmopara Viticola On Grapevine, T J. Wicks, P A. Magarey, M F. Wachtel, A B. Frensham

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Phosphorous acid (H3P03) applied at 1.2 gIL up to 12 days after infection reduced the incidence and severity of Plasmopara vitieola. When applied up to 13 days after infection, H3P03 reduced sporulation. In some experiments, the postinfection activity of H3P03 was better than metalaxyl, while in other experiments it was less effective. Both fungicides applied after infection reduced the incidence and severity of disease on leaves and flower clusters, indicating that postinfection applications should reduce the production of inoculum and the consequent spread of disease within a vineyard. In most cases, the addition of copper oxychloride did not affect the …
