An Integrated Relational Model Of Substance Abuse Counseling In An Outpatient Setting, Christine Chasek

Historically, there has been a lack of formalized substance abuse counseling models in outpatient counseling settings beyond the 12-step model of treatment that honor the therapeutic relationship. An Integrated Relational Model of Substance Abuse Outpatient Counseling is proposed based on the therapeutic relationship and counseling for solutions. Person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy are integrated into a proposed phased model to use in outpatient counseling. The structure and application of the model is described, including goals, objectives, and intervention tools for each phase of counseling that honors the power of the therapeutic relationship.

Remote sensing of the atmosphere is typically achieved through measurements that are high-resolution radiance spectra. In this article, our goal is to characterize the first-moment and second-moment properties of the errors obtained when solving the regularized inverse problem associated with space-based atmospheric CO2 retrievals, specifically for the dry air mole fraction of CO2 in a column of the atmosphere. In this paper, we proposed an unconditionally secure quantum Private Set Intersection Cardinality (PSI-CA) protocol. Compared with classical PSI-CA protocols, the proposed protocol can dramatically reduce the communication complexity, because it only requires O(1) communication cost, which is fully independent of the size of the sets. Furthermore, based on the proposed quantum PSI-CA protocol, we constructed a novel anonymous authentication scheme. This scheme can not only achieve two basic secure goals: secure authentication and anonymity, but can also dynamically update the authorized clients. This study develops a multi-level neuromuscular model consisting of topological pools of spiking motor, sensory and interneurons controlling a bi-muscular model of the human arm. The spiking output of motor neuron pools were used to drive muscle actions and skeletal movement via neuromuscular junctions. Feedback information from muscle spindles were relayed via monosynaptic excitatory and disynaptic inhibitory connections, to simulate spinal afferent pathways. Subject-specific model parameters were identified from human experiments by using inverse dynamics computations and optimization methods. The identified neuromuscular model was used to simulate the biceps stretch reflex and the results were compared to an independent dataset. …

Rail track substructure (ballast, subballast and subgrade) is the most essential component of the railway system in view of track stability. The ballast is the largest component of the track substructure and it is the key load-bearing stratum packed with rock aggregates underneath and around the sleepers, thereby providing structural support against dynamic stresses caused by moving trains. The removal efficiency of 22 selected trace organic contaminants by sequential application of granular activated carbon (GAC) and simultaneous application of powdered activated carbon (PAC) with membrane bioreactor (MBR) was compared in this study. Both sequential application of GAC following MBR treatment (MBR–GAC) and simultaneous application of PAC within MBR (PAC–MBR) achieved improved removal (over 95%) of seven hydrophilic and biologically persistent compounds, which were less efficiently removed by MBR-only treatment (negligible to 70%). However, gradual breakthrough of these compounds occurred over an extended operation period. However, currently most of the workflow models use a simplified flow chart of patient flow obtained using on-site observations, groupbased debates and brainstorming sessions, together with historic patient data. Advanced methods for panel data analysis are commonly used in research on family life and relationships, but the fundamental issue of simultaneous time-dependent confounding and mediation has received little attention. In this article the authors introduce inverse-probability-weighted estimation of marginal structural models, an approach to causal analysis that (unlike conventional regression modeling) appropriately adjusts for confounding variables on the causal pathway linking the treatment with the outcome. They discuss the need for marginal structural models in social science research and describe their estimation in detail. This paper presents a new application of the largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE) algorithm for feature extraction method in low speed slew bearing condition monitoring. The LLE algorithm is employed to measure the degree of non-linearity of the vibration signal which is not easily monitored by existing methods. This paper presents a new application of mathematical morphology (MM) operators for low speed slew bearing condition monitoring. The MM operators were used as a signal processing step and feature extraction method for bearing vibration signals. Four basic MM operators; erosion, dilation, closing and opening, were studied. This paper also investigates another potential MM operator, namely gradient operator. Two common time domain features in bearing condition monitoring, namely root mean square (RMS) and kurtosis, were extracted from the processed signal. Radiotherapy using heavy ion beam such as Carbon-ion has the advantage for the treatment of deep-seated tumour over conventional radiotherapy with X-rays due to an enhanced dose deposition in the Bragg peak (BP) at the end of the ion range. The highest dose can be deposited in the tumour with much lower doses to the surrounding healthy tissue. Twin-roll strip casting is a concerned technology for economically producing magnesium alloys sheets. In this paper, numerical simulation of the twin-roll strip casting of an AZ61 magnesium alloy was carried out and the optimal process parameters were obtained. Then, under the conditions obtained through simulation, AZ61 strips of good surface quality were successfully manufactured. The microstructure of the alloy by twin-rolled strip casting is obvious refined compared with that by conventional casting.

The removal efficiency of 22 selected trace organic contaminants by sequential application of granular activated carbon (GAC) and simultaneous application of powdered activated carbon (PAC) with membrane bioreactor (MBR) was compared in this study. Both sequential application of GAC following MBR treatment (MBR–GAC) and simultaneous application of PAC within MBR (PAC–MBR) achieved improved removal (over 95%) of seven hydrophilic and biologically persistent compounds, which were less efficiently removed by MBR-only treatment (negligible to 70%). However, gradual breakthrough of these compounds occurred over an extended operation period.
