This report lists the total amounts invoiced to the University of Rhode Island Libraries by the bibliographic utility OCLC during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012.
Costs are broken down by invoice date and category and include all library locations (RIN, RIU, and RIX). We pay three fixed monthly fees for each location: one for cataloging (FIX1002), one for interlibrary loan (FIX4500), and one for access (FIX6600).
Total OCLC expenditures for FY12 were $63,329.94.

In this time of often precarious funding at many colleges and universities, any case that can be made to illustrate how a department strategically fits into the overall university mission is not only worth merit, but an essential survival technique. Comparison of the University of Rhode Island Libraries with peer institutions (as defined by the University's Office of Institutional Research). Data used are from the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Statistical Survey from the years 2007-2011. Metrics compared are: total library expenditures, total library materials expenditures, current serials expenditures, monographs expenditures, number of serials purchased, number of monographic volumes purchased, salaries & wages professional staff, salaries & wages support staff, professional staff (fte), support staff (fte), total library resources expenditures per enrolled student FTE, and total library materials resource expenditures per enrolled student FTE.
