Special Collections and University Archives Finding Aids: All Items

This collection includes nearly 800 items donated by W.R. “Butch” Evans in summer 2011. Evans, a resident of Pinellas County, collected the artifacts, chert, pottery sherds, lithic tools, shell tools, and other items while exploring coastal areas and estuaries of Florida. He located “surface finds,” items providing evidence of pre-Columbian settlements that appeared along beaches, river beds and shorelines, and other similar areas of Florida. Out of respect for those middens and mounds remaining, Evans did not violate or desecrate historical sites while collecting these materials. This catalog represents a preliminary inventory of the materials in the W.R. “Butch” Evans …

In preparation for developing a web archiving course, the author conducted a comprehensive literature review. The findings are reported in this paper, along with the author's views on some of the methods in use, …

Interest in integrative health care is a growing area of health practice, combining conventional medical treatments with safe and effective complementary and alternative medicine. These modalities relate to both improving physical and psychological well-being, and enhancing conventional talk therapy. In an interdisciplinary collaboration, teaching and library faculty have created a series of sixteen on-line video interviews that introduce practitioner-relevant experiences to students as supplemental course material. These videos are available through the department web-pages to students in other related disciplines as well, including Social Work, Counselor Education, Psychology, and the Colleges of Public Health, Nursing, and Medicine. The video series …

Digital Archives: Vibrant And Vital To Your Institution, Carol G. Hixson, Tina M. Neville, James Anthony Schnur

USF St. Petersburg campus Faculty Publications

Libraries in North America have been leading the way in the establishment of digital archives, often called institutional repositories, for their universities or the institutions they serve. Many such repositories have had difficulty getting buy-in from faculty and others within their institutions because they have focused on one type of content only: peer-reviewed faculty content. At the University of South Florida St. Petersburg (USFSP), a model of inclusion of all members of the campus community and all types of content, coupled with a high level of service from a small group of librarians, led to quick and early adoption of …
