Vegetative Community Descriptions For The North Platte River In Wyoming And Nebraska, Lynn Fisher
Vegetative Community Descriptions For The North Platte River In Wyoming And Nebraska, Lynn Fisher
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts
A description of the vegetative communities in an area will provide an insight to wildlife potential and use of that area. Wildlife and its corresponding habitat are recognized as important for recreation and to the overall environmental quality of an area. The Water and Power Resources Service, Lower Missouri Region, is presently engaged in a study of the Platte River Basin, including an evaluation of wildlife habitat and associated environmental needs. Quantification of wildlife habitat along the South Platte River has been completed. Vegetation communities were described and habitat maps were prepared from color infrared aerial photographs (scale – 1:24,000). …

Federal Lands, Laws and Policies and the Development of Natural Resources: A Short Course (Summer Conference, July 28-August 1)
Even before the [Natural Resources Law] Center was established [in the fall of 1981], the [University of Colorado] School of Law was organizing annual natural resources law summer short courses. To date four programs have been presented:
- July 1980: "Federal Lands, Laws and Policies and the Development of Natural Resources"
- June 1981: "Water Resources Allocation: Laws and Emerging Issues"
- June 1982: "New Sources of Water for Energy Development and Growth: lnterbasin Transfers"
- June 1983: "Groundwater: Allocation, Development and Pollution"

The Future Of Coastal Zone Management: The 1980 Amendments, Kenneth J. Buckland
Marine Affairs Theses and Major Papers
The Federal Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972 (P.L.98-583) is currently being questioned on its validity, purpose, funding, wording, and accomplishments in carrying out national policies for the benefit of the U.S. coastal zones. All the legislation promulgated for management of coastal resources, the agencies involved in coastal zone management, and the groups participating in these actions have been challenged in recent months and have subsequently been evolving in their functions. What remedies are available and how they could be realized through the present federal laws and organizational structure are areas which must be discussed now if we are to …

Evaluation Of Impacts Associated With Reregulation Of Water Levels In Lake Mohave, Larry J. Paulson, John R. Baker, U.S. Water And Power Resources Service
Evaluation Of Impacts Associated With Reregulation Of Water Levels In Lake Mohave, Larry J. Paulson, John R. Baker, U.S. Water And Power Resources Service
Publications (WR)
The U.S. Water and Power Resources Service is considering reregulating Lake Mohave water levels to increase the net power benefit from Hoover Dam. Reregulation will not increase the generation capacity of the Hoover powerplant but it will enable the plant operation to be increased when the energy has greater monetary value. Energy generated at different times of the year has different market value, the highest being in January-March and July- September. By generating more power during these periods more net monetary benefit can be derived from Hoover Dam. The total volume of water released from Hoover Dam over an annual …
