In this thesis I explore two main topics: the role and consequences of cosmological vector fields, and new ideas for constraining fundamental physics with state-of-the-art experiments. These topics are disparate in content and technique but unified in their attempt to leverage novel approaches to better understand longstanding questions in cosmology. These questions, such as ``What is causing the universe to accelerate today?'' and ``What are the neutrino masses?'', underpin the modern cosmological paradigm. Cosmological Gravitational Waves: Refining A General Rule Of Thumb For Reheating, David Zhou

There are predictions for cosmological gravitational wave backgrounds from reheating based on various models. But, these predictions do not address the question of how an observed spectrum relates back to an unknown model or parameter. Given this problem, we have numerically and analytically investigated a variety of chaotic inflation models and their gravitational wave spectra. In doing so, we found a power law relation between gravitational wave peak frequency and an underlying chaotic inflation parameter. In this paper I lay the groundwork for an alternative model for the contemporary expansion of the universe. The current model states that the universe is growing exponentially due to the vacuum of space pulling on it. This model states that the growth rate of the universe is linear in time. However in 1998, researchers suggested that the expansion rate of the universe is accelerating. This means the universe is not expanding logarithmically, not linearly.
