Large artery, pedal small vein, femoral vein and central venous pressures and extremity volume changes were recorded in mongrel dogs in which the hindlimb was perfused at a constant flow. Arterial, pedal venous and femoral venous blood gases were drawn and analyzed for measurements of arterio-venous O₂ and CO₂ differences. Paw and thigh resistances were calculated. Measurements were repeated following ligation of the iliac and femoral veins, alpha receptor blockade (dibenzyline), and dilation with Vasodilan.
