The misuse and abuse of prescription opioid (PO) medications has garnered the attention of lawmakers, healthcare professionals, and public health experts since the opioid epidemic was declared a national public health emergency in 2017. Our purpose in this study was to investigate the types of healthcare insurance that predict PO misuse. We also sought to inform stakeholders of potentially needed changes to the existing inconsistent drug utilization rules necessary to achieve parity among all types of healthcare insurance and minimize loopholes. Introduction: We hosted a national consensus conference with a diverse group of stakeholders to develop a patient-centered research agenda focused on reducing disparities in telehealth use.

Methods: Attendees were purposively invited to participate in a 2-day virtual conference. The group developed a prioritized research agenda focused on reducing disparities in telehealth uptake, with discussion informed by findings from a scoping review. All work was conducted in partnership with a Steering Committee of national experts in telehealth and patient-centered care (n = 5) and a community-based Telehealth Advisory Board with experience with telehealth use and barriers (n = 8).

Old Order Mennonites (OOM) follow a traditional agrarian lifestyle; key aspects include home births, large families, limited antibiotic usage, consumption of whole foods and unpasteurized milk, and early exposure to soil, stables, and farm animals. There is evidence that a farming lifestyle protects against asthma and allergies, yet the biological mechanisms behind this protective effect remain unknown. The “Zooming into Old Order Mennonites” (ZOOM) cohort study was established to further explore protective factors and mechanisms. Although the literature contains valuable information about Amish culture, few qualitative studies have been conducted on the health beliefs, health practices, and health-seeking behaviors of the Swartzentruber Amish, the most conservative group of Old Order Amish. The purpose of this study was to describe these dynamics for the Swartzentruber Amish of Clark County, Wisconsin. Background: Minimally invasive tissue sampling (MITS) has increasingly been used to improve the diagnosis of disease and identification of the cause of death, particularly in underserved areas. This paper will provide an innovative approach to drug overdose prevention programs. Using data from Las Vegas emergency departments, this paper will analyze geospatial trends of drug overdoses. Leveraging the Cardiff Violence Prevention Model, the information is shared with local law enforcement agencies and decision makers to empower them to make evidence-based strategies. This paper highlights the efficacy of a data-driven model in addressing public health issues and underscoring its ability for even broader implementation in urban settings. Findings will suggest significant implications for policymaking, crime prevention, and public health initiatives, demonstrating a step towards a safer Las Vegas.

INTRODUCTION: To accommodate the complex healthcare needs of the rising geriatric population, Stamford Hospital’s (SH) emergency department (ED) began a Geriatric Emergency Medicine Initiative (GEMI) in 2018 to improve our ED environment, practices, and focused assessments for our community-dwelling older adults.

METHODS: This retrospective program evaluation describes SH’s novel ED processes for at-risk older adults and compares GEMI and non-GEMI assessed patient outcomes using aggregate frequencies on throughput metrics such as length of stay (LOS), 72 hour and 30-day re-admission rates, and other outcomes of interest. Background: This study examined how refugees in central Virginia, United States were able to access public health information about COVID-19 and any barriers to following COVID-19 prevention guidelines.

Methods: Individual interviews were conducted with refugees (n = 40) attending a family medicine clinic serving refugees and immigrants. Participants answered questions about their primary methods of obtaining COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccine information, how they prefer to receive this information, information given by employers, precautions taken at their place of work, and current vaccination status.

Background: In the United States, 45% of all pregnancies are unintended and occur when contraception is not used or is used inconsistently. Among those pregnancies, 1 in 10 women will experience a preterm birth, which is defined as a birth occurring before 37 weeks gestation. BACKGROUND: Empagliflozin has been proposed as a treatment for COVID-19 on the basis of its anti-inflammatory, metabolic, and haemodynamic effects. The RECOVERY trial aimed to assess its safety and efficacy in patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19.

METHODS: In the randomised, controlled, open-label RECOVERY trial, several possible treatments are compared with usual care in patients hospitalised with COVID-19. The main goals and challenges for the life science communities in the Open Science framework are to increase reuse and sustainability of data resources, software tools, and workflows, especially in large-scale data-driven research and computational analyses. Here, we present key findings, procedures, effective measures and recommendations for generating and establishing sustainable life science resources based on the collaborative, cross-disciplinary work done within the EOSC-Life (European Open Science Cloud for Life Sciences) consortium. Penelitian ini membahas pemenuhan standar pelayanan Kesehatan ibu terhadap penggunaan metode KB Pascapersalinan dengan tujuan mengetahui hubungan antara pemenuhan standar pelayanan Kesehatan ibu terhadap penggunaan metode KB pascapersalinan di NTT, Sulawesi Barat, Maluku. Desain studi cross-sectional dengan analisis multivariabel regresi logistik menggunakan data sekunder SDKI 2017. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan sebesar 404 sampel dengan rincian NTT (151), Sulawesi Barat (115), Maluku (138) pada WUS yang pernah melahirkan anak hidup dalam periode satu tahun terakhir dan menggunakan metode KB pascapersalinan periode 42 hari setelah melahirkan. Penelitian ini membahas kesiapan sumber daya terkait sumber daya manusia (SDM) dan infrastruktur teknologi (IT) terhadap penerapan digital health dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kekuatan dan arah hubungan kesiapan sumber daya dengan penerapan digital health di Puskesmas Kota Semarang Tahun 2023. Tuberkulosis (TB) adalah salah satu penyakit menular yang masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia. Terlebih, adanya pandemi COVID-19 berimbas kepada berkurangnya progress dan penanganan TB di tahun 2021, maka dari itu dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui situasi TB dan melihat hubungan spasial pada kasus TB dengan faktor-faktor risikonya di salah satu wilayah dengan jumlah kasus tertinggi di Indonesia; Pulau Jawa, di tingkat kabupaten/kota. Faktor risiko dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu faktor geografis seperti rata-rata ketinggian, suhu tahunan, dan kelembaban tahunan; serta faktor sosiodemografi yang mencakup kepadatan penduduk/densitas, jumlah fasilitas kesehatan, dan rata-rata usia diagnosis. The community health center (Puskesmas) routinely collects student health examination data in health report books, causing storage, monitoring, and analysis difficulties. This has led to suboptimal health interventions involving parents, schools, and Puskesmas. This research analyzes user needs in developing an electronic-based student health report. This qualitative descriptive study employs the Framework for the Application of System Thinking (FAST) approach. The research was conducted at the Puskesmas Jagakarsa and SD Negeri Cipedak 03, South Jakarta. The study findings indicate utilizing student health report books is not optimal. Program KB di Indonesia khususnya penggunaan MKJP menjadi upaya pemerintah dalam mengendalikan penduduk, khususnya pada kelompok berisiko. Namun, penggunaan mix-method MKJP di Indonesia relatif masih rendah, yaitu 24,6% dibandingkan negara ASEAN lainnya. Purpose: Half of people living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) do not receive high-quality, evidenced-based care as described in international guidelines. We conducted secondary data analysis of a previously published study to assess the ability of a model of lay health coaching to improve provision of guideline-based care in a primary care setting.

Purpose: A growing number of refugee groups are seeking care within the U.S. health care system for medical, psychological, and social needs. Research is limited in understanding refugee-specific conceptualizations of helping relationships and provider characteristics that improve interactions in health systems. Purpose: Specialty care coordination relies on information flowing bidirectionally between all three participants in the “specialty care triad” — patients, primary care providers (PCPs), and specialists. Measures of coordination should strive to account for the perspectives of each. As we previously developed two surveys to measure coordination of specialty care as experienced by PCPs and specialists, this study aimed to develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of a related survey of specialty care coordination as experienced by the patient, thereby completing the suite of surveys among the triad.
