Background: The objective of the research was to work out the set of test tasks assessing special physical fitness of 17-year-old soccer players. Material/Methods: At first, on the basis of the analysis of the said issue in literature and the authors’ own coaching experience, 13 test tasks were selected. Next, reliability and accuracy of the chosen test tasks were examined on the group of 16 athletes from the Centre of Sports training for youth in Gdansk. The aim of this study was to develop a new basketball-specific field test (BSFT) that determines the maximal oxygen uptake indirectly and to determine the reliability and validity of the test for measuring aerobic power. An aerobic endurance-based test totalling 1.5 miles on a basketball court including side steps and running was designed to be completed as quickly as possible. 15-year-old, male basketball players’ maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) levels measured directly as the gold standard laboratory test. Background: It is important that psychological structures have an impact on athlete performance, such as self-efficacy can be measured consistently. The aim of this study is to develop a measurement tool with psychometric properties that can measure the self-efficacy beliefs of athletes. Material and methods: The participants of the study consisted of 325 athletes (age 21.6 ± 4.2) who actively pursue sports in various sports branches in Turkey. Background: The recently developed Perceived Parental Success Standards Scale (PPSSS) provides a new opportunity to understand better how parents perceive success in sport from the young athlete’s perspective. The aim of the present study was to adapt and validate the Lithuanian-language version of the PPSSS. Material and methods: The study included 587 adolescents (mean age = 14.3, SD = 1.11) from different sport teams in Lithuania. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and additionally exploratory Pearson’s correlation and regression analysis were performed to test discriminant, concurrent, and predictive validity. Background: Respiratory muscle strength is an important indicator of human health and sport condition. The aim of this study was to assess the test/retest reliability of mouth pressure (MP) measured by a created pressure sensor mouthpiece in the sitting position and during bench pressing at various intensities. Material and methods: 23 healthy athletes were measured in 3 separate sessions for MP in the sitting position and during flat bench press at an intensity of one repetition maximum (1RM), 3 x 90% of 1RM, 8 x 80% of 1RM and 12 x 60% of 1RM. The ability to detect and quantify change-of-direction (COD) movement may offer a unique approach to load-monitoring practice. Validity and reliability of a novel algorithm to calculate COD angles for predetermined COD movements ranging from 45 to 180° in left and right directions was assessed. Five recreationally active men (age: 29.0 ± 0.5 years; height: 181.0 ± 5.6 cm; and body mass: 79.4 ± 5.3 kg) ran 5 consecutive predetermined COD trials each, at 4 different angles (45, 90, 135, and 180°), in each direction. The PhysioFlow bioimpedance cardiography device provides key measures of central systolic and diastolic and peripheral vascular function. Many of these variables have not been assessed for intrarater reliability and agreement during rest, submaximal exercise and high-intensity interval exercise. Twenty healthy adults (age: 26±4 years) completed two identical trials beginning with five minutes of rest followed by two 5-minute submaximal cycling bouts at 50% and 70% of peak power output. Subjects then completed ten 30-second cycling intervals at 90% of peak power output interspersed with 60 s of passive recovery. Introduction: The Balance Tracking System™ (BTrackS™) is a balance board designed to quickly analyze postural control through center of pressure (COP) analysis.

Purpose: Examine concurrent validity and test-retest reliability of the BTrackS™ during static stance.

Methods: A convenience sample of 51 healthy collegiate students between 18 - 25 years old (21.8 ± 3.1 years) completed four, 20 second (s) trials of feet together static stance during both eyes open and closed trials. Reliability And Validity Of The Star Excursion Balance Test For Patients With Chronic Patellar Instability, Andrew D. Firth

The Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) is an eight-direction, maximal-reach balance test whose measurement properties are unknown in participants with chronic patellar instability. We designed an observational study with repeated measures to evaluate the test-retest reliability, cross-sectional and longitudinal construct validity, sensitivity to change and responsiveness of the SEBT in this population. Fifteen patients completed the SEBT and reported outcomes at baseline and two weeks and four patients completed testing three months later at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic.

Intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) for the SEBT were fair to good, ranging from 0.66-0.84. The SEBT demonstrates good cross-sectional construct …
