Cutaneous Manifestations of Vasculitides is a Powerpoint based learning module that begins with the definition of terms and findings often found in vasculitis, followed by a review of several systemic vasculitides, highlighting how characteristic cutaneous lesions may be predictive of the vessel of involvement as well as the associated histologic changes. Moreover, significant clinical and laboratory findings utilized to make the correct diagnosis will be emphasized. This module is not meant to be an exhaustive review of vasculitis, but to serve as an introduction to understanding disease processes and how systemic vasculitis and skin findings interrelate.

Fibromyalgia refers to a rheumatic condition experienced as pain all over the body without a specific cause. This is considered a diagnosis of exclusion. This classification seems to suggest that any treatment options for it are purely symptomatic and are not disease targeted. Its complex diagnosis and underlying pathology contribute to the challenge of medically addressing fibromyalgia. Without a strict cause, fibromyalgia is often treated symptomatically with CBT and SNRIs. However, recent research suggests that existing therapeutic approaches are not very effective, especially when considering long term benefits for this chronic condition. Cutaneous Manifestations of Sarcoidosis is a Powerpoint based learning module that depicts fictional patient scenarios detailing sarcoidosis and erythema nodosum. It explores other cutaneous and non-cutaneous manifestations, diagnostic criteria, and medical evaluation of sarcoidosis and the possible etiologies, workup, treatment, and prognosis of erythema nodosum. Health and racial disparities experienced by patients with sarcoidosis are also highlighted and discussed. It takes approximately 25 minutes to complete. Monoarticular joint pain is a common complaint, however it demands a broad differential diagnosis. These differentials include fracture, dislocation, septic arthritis, gout, pseudogout and several others. The diagnosis of septic arthritis requires a high index of suspicion as early diagnosis is a vital part of initial treatment.

We present a case with multifactorial joint pathology contributing to a patient’s presentation, specifically septic joint and pseudogout. The incidence of these entities being present in the same patient, let alone the same joint, is not well documented in the literature.

Background: Inflammatory arthritis in children with Down syndrome (DS) was first described in 1984 and is now termed Down syndrome-associated arthritis (DA). Studies have shown that DA is under-recognized with a 19-month average delay in diagnosis. Additionally, most patients present with polyarticular, rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) negative disease. Current therapies for juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) have been used, but appear to be poorly tolerated, more toxic and less effective in patients with DA. Our spork is an assistive device designed and 3D printed for patients suffering from scleroderma, systemic sclerosis, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, drug withdrawal, etc. The scale-based handle will act as a counterweight to offset the contents on the other end and reduce shakiness. The larger grip allows an easy and comfortable hold. The product will be 3D printed for a customizable fit and at an affordable price. OBJECTIVES: To assess the feasibility of studying the comparative effectiveness of the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) consensus treatment plans (CTPs) for systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) using an observational registry.

METHODS: Untreated systemic JIA patients enrolled in the CARRA Registry were begun on one of 4 CTPs chosen by the treating physician and patient/family (glucocorticoid [GC] alone; methotrexate [MTX] ± GC; IL1 inhibitor [IL1i] ± GC; IL6 inhibitor [IL6i] ± GC). The primary outcome of clinical inactive disease (CID) without current GC use was assessed at 9 months.

OBJECTIVE: To validate the pediatric Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System short forms (PROMIS-SFs) in childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in a clinical setting.

METHODS: At 3 study visits, childhood-onset SLE patients completed the PROMIS-SFs (anger, anxiety, depressive symptoms, fatigue, physical function-mobility, physical function-upper extremity, pain interference, and peer relationships) using the PROMIS assessment center, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) legacy measures (Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory, Childhood Health Assessment Questionnaire, Simple Measure of Impact of Lupus Erythematosus in Youngsters [SMILEY], and visual analog scales [VAS] of pain and well-being). BACKGROUND: Dystrophic calcifications may occur in patients with J uvenile Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathy (JIIM) as well as other connective tissue and metabolic diseases, but a reliable method of measuring the volume of these calcifications has not been established. The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of low dose, limited slice, Computed Tomography (CT) to measure objectively in-situ calcification volumes in patients with JIIM over time.

Rheumatoid arthritis represents an excellent model in which to gain insights into the local and systemic effects of joint inflammation on skeletal tissues. Three forms of bone disease have been described in rheumatoid arthritis. These include: focal bone loss affecting the immediate subchondral bone and bone at the joint margins; periarticular osteopenia adjacent to inflamed joints; and generalized osteoporosis involving the axial and appendicular skeleton. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the association of MTX with cardiovascular morbidity, cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality in patients with autoimmune disease. Our primary outcome was incident cardiovascular events. After screening 13,479 citations, we identified a total of 30 eligible studies. We synthesized adjusted risk estimates using a random effects model. MTX was significantly associated with a 25% reduction in cardiovascular events (pooled RR: 0.75, 95% CI: 0.65, 0.86, I²: 11%), a 55% reduction in cardiovascular mortality (0.45, 95% CI: 0.26, 0.80, I²: 33%) and a 40% reduction in all-cause mortality (0.60, …

In Sjögren's syndrome, keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye) is associated with infiltration of lacrimal glands by leukocytes and consequent losses of tear-fluid production and the integrity of the ocular surface. We investigated the effect of blockade of the lymphotoxin-beta receptor (LTBR) pathway on lacrimal-gland pathology in the NOD mouse model of Sjögren's syndrome.
