Management Of Multiple Infantile Hemangiomas In A Preterm Infant: A Clinical Case Report, Erin Reese, Wyatt Grimm, Aaron Mcguffin

Infantile hemangiomas (IH), the most prevalent infantile tumor, are benign vascular tumors arising from proliferation and dysregulation of angiogenesis. Hemangiomas are present after birth and undergo 3 stages: proliferation, plateau, and involution. IH are further categorized into superficial, deep, and mixed based on skin and internal organ involvement. IH are clinically diagnosed, and treatment options include active observation, corticosteroids, beta-blockers, pingyangmycin, vincristine, or laser treatment. Complications of untreated IH include ulceration, airway obstruction, and visual obstruction at sites of enlarging lesions. INTRODUCTION: Near-complete skin clearance has become a rapidly achievable treatment goal for patients with psoriasis receiving systemic biologic therapies. However, real-world evidence for durability of near-complete skin clearance and risk factors associated with loss of near-complete skin clearance is limited.

METHODS: This study described durability of near-complete skin clearance (≥ 90% improvement in Psoriasis Area and Severity Index from initiation; PASI90) and identified clinical factors or patient characteristics associated with loss of PASI90 among patients with psoriasis from the CorEvitas Psoriasis Registry (April 2015-August 2021). Background: Skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) are the second most common diagnosis leading to pediatric antibiotic prescriptions in the outpatient setting after respiratory diagnoses. However, most antibiotic stewardship programs have mainly focused on the latter. Children seen in the ambulatory setting for SSTIs often receive >7 days of antibiotics, although current society guidelines recommend 5-7 days for most diagnoses.

Objectives/Goal: To determine the baseline percentage of patients receiving antibiotic prescriptions for >7 days for SSTIs in Children’s Mercy urgent care clinics (UCC)s and to evaluate factors that influence providers towards longer durations.

Background: We previously reported treatment and outcomes of children with untreated, not spontaneously draining (UTND) breast abscesses. What has not been well defined however are those with previously treated, not spontaneously draining (PTND) pediatric breast abscesses.
