Objective: To investigate the differences in the academic productivity of male and female academicians from the departments of pediatric dentistry in the Faculties of Dentistry in Turkey. Methods: A search was made of international studies indexed in PubMed published up until January 2021 by a total of 241 academicians in the Departments of Pediatric Dentistry of 79 Faculties of Dentistry in Turkey. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare high viscosity glass ionomer cement (HVGIC), giomer and microhybrid composite using the atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Vickers microhardness. Methods: Three different restorative materials Equia Forte (HVGIC), Beautifil II (giomer) and Solare X (microhybrid composite) were used in this study. Hybrid ceramics combine the beneficial properties of resin with the advantage of glass ceramics. However, there are limited study about on roughness properties of hybrid materials. Objective: To investigate of the effects of surface finishing methods on roughness of dental restorations made from hybrid CAD/CAM blocks. Methods: A total of 60 samples were produced (n=20) for three main material groups, two different hybrid ceramic (LAVA Ultimate and VITA Enamic) and a conventional glass ceramic (IPS e.max CAD). Lactobacillus reuteri plays a role in maintaining oral health through interactions with the oral microbiome. Congenital epulis is a rare benign tumor of the newborn that could be detected in the prenatal period. Females are more often affected than males and the premaxillary region is usually the predilection site for this oral mass. Objective: To determine the differences in treatment strategies and material preferences for deep dentine carious lesions (DDCLs) management among general and specialist dentists.

Methods: Dentists working in universities, oral and dental health centers, or private practice were administered a 14-item web-based questionnaire regarding demographic and occupational characteristics, approaches to DDLCs, pulp capping methods, and preferences for restorative materials. The data were examined using descriptive statistical analysis and Pearson’s chi-square tests.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the effect of passive tobacco smoking (PTS) through the comparison of the periodontal status and the C-reactive protein (CRP) and cotinine levels in the biologic fluids in children who are exposed and unexposed to PTS. This case report presents the outcome of atypical extraction and effect of Twin Block appliance on a growing adolescent. A 12-year-old boy who had complained about protrusive upper lips after being involved in a traffic accident. Tooth 11 was replanted at a local dental clinic, while tooth 21 was lost. In extra-oral examination, this patient had convex profile, obtuse nasolabial angle, and receded chin position. Purpose: Follow-up appointments after full mouth dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia (GA) have been suggested as a method for preventing future caries and need for repeat treatment under GA. The purpose of this study is to determine current practitioner and parental perceived value of the postoperative GA appointment.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the number of VCU pediatric dental patients screened for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) relative to the number of referrals made for a pediatric sleep study.

Methods: This was a retrospective chart review of children between the ages of 1-18 years seen at the VCU Pediatric Dental Clinic between 2016-2020. Patients with a completed sleep apnea screening questionnaire in the health history form or sleep apnea form/referral were identified. การศึกษาในห้องปฏิบัติการนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบการคืนแร่ธาตุในรอยผุระยะเริ่มต้นของชิ้นฟันที่สัมผัสกับวัสดุบูรณะคลาสทูด้วยนาโนคอมโพสิตแคลเซียมฟอสเฟต (Predicta™ bioactive bulk) กับซีเมนต์กลาสส์ไอโอโนเมอร์ (Equia Forte®) และเรซินคอมโพสิตชนิดไม่ปลดปล่อยฟลูออไรด์ (Filtek™ Z350) เป็นกลุ่มควบคุม โดยใช้ชิ้นฟันน้ำนมจำนวน 60 ชิ้นจากด้านแก้มของฟันกรามน้ำนมที่ถูกถอน 60 ซี่มาสร้างรอยผุระยะเริ่มต้นที่กึ่งกลางของชิ้นฟัน นำชิ้นฟันตัวอย่างมาวัดร้อยละการสูญเสียฟลูออเรสเซนต์ (∆F) เริ่มต้นด้วยเครื่องวัดฟลูออเรสเซนต์ที่เกิดจากแสงเชิงปริมาณชนิดดิจิทัล เรียงลำดับร้อยละการสูญเสียฟลูออเรสเซนต์เริ่มต้นจากชิ้นฟันที่สูญเสียแร่ธาตุน้อยไปมาก สุ่มชิ้นฟันออกเป็น 3 กลุ่ม นำชิ้นฟันไปติดกับบล็อกอะคริลิกที่บูรณะด้านประชิดด้วยวัสดุบูรณะทั้ง 3 ชนิด แล้วเข้ากระบวนการเลียนแบบสภาวะในช่องปากเป็นเวลา 14 วัน จากนั้นวิเคราะห์ปริมาณการคืนแร่ธาตุโดยวัสดุบูรณะแต่ละชนิด ด้วยการเปรียบเทียบค่าเฉลี่ยของการเปลี่ยนแปลงร้อยละของการสูญเสียฟลูออเรสเซนต์ (∆∆F) และค่าเฉลี่ยของการเปลี่ยนแปลงปริมาตรการสูญเสียฟลูออเรสเซนต์ (∆∆Q) ผลการศึกษาพบว่าทั้งค่า ∆∆F และค่า ∆∆Q ของทุกกลุ่มมีความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ โดยกลุ่มซีเมนต์กลาสส์ไอโอโนเมอร์ มีการคืนแร่ธาตุแก่ชิ้นฟันสูงที่สุด ส่วนกลุ่มนาโนคอมโพสิตแคลเซียมฟอสเฟตมีการสูญเสียแร่ธาตุของชิ้นฟันเล็กน้อย ซึ่งน้อยกว่ากลุ่มควบคุม คือเรซินคอมโพสิตชนิดไม่ปลดปล่อยฟลูออไรด์อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ สรุปได้ว่าการบูรณะด้วยวัสดุซีเมนต์กลาสไอโอโนเมอร์ สามารถคืนแร่ธาตุให้ฟันซี่ข้างเคียงได้ดีที่สุด แต่ในกรณีที่รอยผุหรือโพรงฟันคลาสทูมีขนาดใหญ่ นาโนคอมโพสิตแคลเซียมฟอสเฟตก็ถือเป็นวัสดุหนึ่งที่เป็นทางเลือกในการใช้ทดแทนเรซินคอมโพสิตชนิดไม่ปลดปล่อยฟลูออไรด์ เนื่องจากใช้งานง่าย มีความแข็งแรงและความสวยงามเทียบเท่ากับเรซินคอมโพสิต นอกจากนี้ยังช่วยยับยั้งการลุกลามของรอยผุระยะเริ่มต้นในฟันซี่ข้างเคียงได้ดีกว่าเรซินคอมโพสิตชนิดไม่ปลดปล่อยฟลูออไรด์

Purpose:

To determine the effect of local anesthesia on post-operative pain and physiologic parameters intraoperatively in patients undergoing dental care under general anesthesia.

Methods:

This study was modeled as a double-blinded randomized control trial. Patients included healthy children under the age of six scheduled for restorative dental treatment under general anesthesia. Patient behavior was evaluated pre and post-operatively using the FLACC score and post-operatively using the Parental Pain Score Measure. Intraoperatively, all participants followed a standardized general anesthesia protocol and were given either local anesthetic infiltration by the dental surgeon performing the surgery or no anesthesia was utilized.
