The Fisheries Of Deer Creek Reservoir, Utah, With Special Emphasis On The Yellow Perch (Perca Flavescens Mitchill), Gale R. Lewellen
Theses and Dissertations
This thesis is concerned with the fisheries of Deer Creek Reservoir, Wasatch County, Utah, with special emphasis on the yellow perch. The study period was from May 13 to November 24, 1968. Objectives included the determination of size, age, and food habits of the yellow perch. Parasitic occurrences in the perch population by Ligula intestinalis were also recorded as well as the utilization of the perch by the fishermen. Observations on other species of fish including an analysis of rainbow trout stocking programs were also objectives of this thesis. Data was gathered by means of creel census and fish collection …

Special Report To Oyster Industry: Growing Oysters In Msx Areas, Virginia Institute Of Marine Science
Reports
MSX is a microscopic parasite that kills oysters but is not harmful to humans. It is a protozoan, or one-celled animal which thrives in areas of high salinity water. Death of oysters occurs mostly in the warm season with minor losses occurring in winter. MSX is now in its tenth year in Virginia with no reduction of its activity.
Eutrophication Trends Of Bear Lake, Idaho-Utah And Their Effect On The Distribution And Biological Productivity Of Zooplankton, David Nyquist
Eutrophication Trends Of Bear Lake, Idaho-Utah And Their Effect On The Distribution And Biological Productivity Of Zooplankton, David Nyquist
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Zooplankton of the littoral and limnetic zones of Bear Lake, Idaho-Utah, were collected over a 17-month period. Twenty-three species of zooplankton were recorded, as well as nine other species represented by both flora and fauna. At the time of sampling 17 physical and chemical parameters were also measured. Methods of analysis for the plankton and the environment are described and discussed.
The objectives of this project were fourfold:
- To establish a record of the current zooplankton population before changes due to the increase of organic nutrients occur.
- To compile a qualitative and quantitative standard against which future populations can be …
Shellfish Resources Of Washington, Robert Grant Levens
Shellfish Resources Of Washington, Robert Grant Levens
Graduate Student Research Papers
This paper will explore the salt water shellfish resources of Washington State. Particular emphasis will be placed upon the Pacific and Olympia Oysters, the Dungeness Crab, the research being done at Quilcene, and the lesser varieties of shellfish, including shrimp and the hardshell species of clams. The latter includes the littleneck, butter, Manila, and geoduc clams. A major emphasis will be the commercial importance of the shellfish, but the sportsman and the expanding role of Washington as a summer recreation area will not be overlooked.
