The 2024 Cardozo Colloquium On Global And Constitutional Theory, Benjamin N. Cardozo School Of Law
Event Invitations 2024
The US Supreme Court is currently experiencing a significant decrease in public approval, as are several courts in many other parts of the world, such as the Israel Supreme Court and top courts in various Eastern European countries. At the same time, in certain other parts of the world, such as Western Europe, constitutional courts persist as well integrated and are widely perceived as trustworthy guarantors of workable checks and balances. The Colloquium will explore what accounts for these differences and whether the various crises concerning judicial review arise from similar or different types of circumstances. To what extent are …

Event Invitations 2024
The Michael Oher case brought to light another shocking example of the overuse of conservatorship. How did a court take away Michael Oher's basic decision-making rights, including the right to enter contracts, when he thought he was being adopted rather than consenting to a conservatorship? Who benefits from The Blind Side as well as Oher’s sports contracts and how do these arrangements compare to similar situations in which there is no guardian in place? What role do sports and entertainment lawyers have in making sure an athlete shares in the profits when his life story is told?

How Summary Eviction Proceedings Fail Individuals Facing Housing Discrimination, Katherine Alonzo
How Summary Eviction Proceedings Fail Individuals Facing Housing Discrimination, Katherine Alonzo
ERSJ Blog

For instance, evictions may leave people unhoused, “[fracture] the integrity of their families, [crush] their livelihoods, [damage] their mental and physical health and their safety, [deprive] them of their place in community and, ultimately, [tear] apart the fabric of their communities.” While Americans of all backgrounds face evictions, there are often large racial, ethnic, and gender disparities among those who face eviction with Black Americans, women, …

Cardozo News 2024
This month, Cardozo once again hosted its renowned January intensive courses, bootcamps for future lawyers that promote experiential learning and provide students with career connections to the real world.
These simulation courses are a cornerstone of our practical experience curriculum, including the Intensive Trial Advocacy Program (ITAP) and the Intensive Transactional Lawyering Program (ITRANS). These programs offer students the chance to gain real-world casework and courtroom experience under supervision from top legal practitioners, who then give them one-on-one feedback on their performances.

Keep Up With the Latest News from the Law School (blog)
Indiana University Maurer School of Law Professor Bill Henderson has once again been recognized as one of the most influential people in legal education, but he’s not the only one with ties to the Law School on this year’s list.
The National Jurist ranked Henderson #18 on its list. Kellye Testy, a 1991 alumna of the Law School and president and CEO of the Law School Admission Council, is ranked second.
