Design Tunneling Transistor And Schottky Junction Solar Cell Using Van Der Waals Semiconductor Heterostructure, Md Azmot Ullah Khan Jul 2022

Design Tunneling Transistor And Schottky Junction Solar Cell Using Van Der Waals Semiconductor Heterostructure, Md Azmot Ullah Khan

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Transition metal di-chalcogenide (TMDC) materials, being semiconductor in nature, offer Two-dimensional (2D) materials such as graphene and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) possess unique and unusual properties that are particularly applicable to nanoelectronics and photovoltaic devices. In this dissertation, four different projects have been done that encompass the implementation of these materials to improve the performance of future transistors and Schottky junction solar cells. In chapter 2, an analytical current transport model of a dual gate tunnel field-effect transistor (TFET) is developed by utilizing the principle of band-to-band tunneling (BTBT) and MoS2 as the channel material. Later, using this …

Characterization Of Electrophoretic Deposited Zinc Oxide Nanopartices For The Fabrication Of Next-Generation Nanoscale Electronic Applications, Fawwaz Abduh A. Hazzazi

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Several reports state that it is crucial to analyze nanoscale semiconductor materials and devices with potential benefits to meet the need for next-generation nanoelectronics, bio, and nanosensors. The progress in the electronics field is as significant now, with modern technology constantly evolving and a greater focus on more efficient robust optoelectronic applications. This dissertation focuses on the study and examination of the practicality of Electrophoretic Deposition (EPD) of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (NPs) for use in semiconductor applications.

The feasibility of several synthesized electrolytes, with and without surfactants and APTES surface functionalization, is discussed. The primary objective of this study …

5-Bit Dual-Slope Analog-To-Digital Converter-Based Time-To-Digital Converter Chip Design In Cmos Technology, Jojoe S. Sagoe Nov 2019

5-Bit Dual-Slope Analog-To-Digital Converter-Based Time-To-Digital Converter Chip Design In Cmos Technology, Jojoe S. Sagoe

LSU Master's Theses

Time-to-Digital Converters (TDC) have gained increasing importance in modern implementations of mixed-signal, data-acquisition and processing interfaces and are used to perform high precision time intervals in systems that incorporate Time-of-Flight (ToF) or Time-of-Arrival (ToA) measurements. The linearity of TDCs is very crucial since most Digital Signal Processing (DSP) systems require very linear inputs to achieve high accuracy.

In this work, a TDC has been designed in the 0.5 μm n-well CMOS process that can be used for on-chip integration and in applications requiring high linearity. This TDC used a Dual-Slope-ADC-based architecture for the time-to-digital conversion and consists of the following …

Vehicle Sensing And Communications Using Led Headlights To Enhance The Performance Of Intelligent Transportation Systems: Proof Of Concept, Implementation, And Applications, Sabit Ekin, Samir Ahmed

Data

Corresponding data set for Tran-SET Project No. 18ITSOKS01. Abstract of the final report is stated below for reference:

"This project investigates the use of vehicle light-emitting diode (LED) headlamp devices for improving the accuracy and reliability of traffic (sensing and communication) data measurements required for developing effective intelligent transportation systems (ITS) technologies and solutions.

Vehicular communication and sensing technologies are mainly based on conventional radio frequency (RF) or laser technologies. These systems suffer from several issues such as RF interference and poor performance in scenarios where the incidence angle between the speed detector and the vehicle is rapidly varying. Introducing …

Techniques Of Energy-Efficient Vlsi Chip Design For High-Performance Computing, Zhou Zhao Sep 2018

Techniques Of Energy-Efficient Vlsi Chip Design For High-Performance Computing, Zhou Zhao

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

How to implement quality computing with the limited power budget is the key factor to move very large scale integration (VLSI) chip design forward. This work introduces various techniques of low power VLSI design used for state of art computing. From the viewpoint of power supply, conventional in-chip voltage regulators based on analog blocks bring the large overhead of both power and area to computational chips. Motivated by this, a digital based switchable pin method to dynamically regulate power at low circuit cost has been proposed to make computing to be executed with a stable voltage supply. For one of …
