Metal Assisted Nanowire Growth For Silicon Nanowire/Amorphous Silicon Composite Solar Cell, Asmaa Ali Sadoon
Metal Assisted Nanowire Growth For Silicon Nanowire/Amorphous Silicon Composite Solar Cell, Asmaa Ali Sadoon
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Solar cells are photovoltaic devices that convert the energy of light to electricity by the photovoltaic effect. Crystalline silicon-based solar cells are the most dominant solar cells in the market today due to the high efficiency and relatively low cost. However, the cost of such solar cell is still high due to the large amount of material that is consumed in fabricating such a device. Polycrystalline/amorphous thin films and nanomaterial technologies have emerged to reduce the high cost of c-Si based solar cells and increase the efficiency. In this research, we combined these two technologies to propose and fabricate silicon …
Influence Of Oxygen On Electronic Properties Of Nanocrystalline Silicon, Shantan Kajjam
Influence Of Oxygen On Electronic Properties Of Nanocrystalline Silicon, Shantan Kajjam

Nanocrystalline Silicon (nc-Si) is an important material for photovoltaic device applications. Its excellent absorption, low defect levels and many other interesting properties help build high efficiency solar cells. Its structure is very complex and is sensitive to contaminants and fabrication processes. It needs a careful study so that a maximum outcome can be attained from the material. Nc-Si is highly prone to be defective and oxygen is one of the major sources of the defects. In this thesis, systematic analysis of the fundamental properties of oxygen doped & boron compensated nc-Si are illustrated. Thin film solar cells were fabricated using …
Optical Properties Of Solar Cells Based On Zinc(Hydr)Oxide And Its Composite With Graphite Oxide Sensitized By Quantum Dots, S. M. Zakirul Islam
Optical Properties Of Solar Cells Based On Zinc(Hydr)Oxide And Its Composite With Graphite Oxide Sensitized By Quantum Dots, S. M. Zakirul Islam
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
This thesis research focuses on developing a hybrid form of solar cell based on zinc(hydr)oxide and its composites with graphite oxide, TiO2, quantum dot, electrolyte and . This work expands upon the Gratzel solar cell with a dye in TiO2.
Due to various structural and optical characteristics, zinc(hydr)oxide (Zn(OH)2) and its porous composites with 2% and 5% graphite oxide(GO) can be used for various applications including the manufacture of various , protective elements in electric and electronic appliances, as gas-sensors, catalysts, in cosmetics a UV light absorber, and solar cells.
In this research, both TiO2 and zinc(hydr)oxide (refer as Zn(OH)2 …
Growth And Analysis Of Micro And Nano Cdte Arrays For Solar Cell Applications, Brandon Adrian Aguirre
Growth And Analysis Of Micro And Nano Cdte Arrays For Solar Cell Applications, Brandon Adrian Aguirre
Open Access Theses & Dissertations
CdTe is an excellent material for infrared detectors and photovoltaic applications. The efficiency of CdTe/CdS solar cells has increased very rapidly in the last 3 years to ~20% but is still below the maximum theoretical value of 30%. Although the short-circuit current density is close to its maximum of 30 mA/cm2, the open circuit voltage has potential to be increased further to over 1 Volt. The main limitation that prevents further increase in the open-circuit voltage and therefore efficiency is the high defect density in the CdTe absorber layer. Reducing the defect density will increase the open-circuit voltage above 1 …
