An Overview Of Technologies For Upgrading Of Biogas To Biomethane, Wojciech M. Budzianowski

Wojciech Budzianowski

The present contribution presents an overview of technologies available for upgrading of biogas to biomethane. Technologies under study include pressure swing adsorption (PSA), high-pressure water wash (HPWW), reactive absorption (RA), physical absorption (PA), membrane separation (MS) and cryogenic separation (CS).

Influence Of Energy Policy On The Rate Of Implementation Of Biogas Power Plants In Germany During The 2001-2010 Decade, Izabela Chasiak, Wojciech M. Budzianowski

Wojciech Budzianowski

The current article describes energy policy tools, which caused intensive development of biogas-based power generation in Germany during the 2001-2010 decade. The German system of financial support to biogas power plants is presented in details. It is shown that in Germany, i.e. in a country characterised by similar climate and potentials to renewable energy to Poland, biogas power plants cover 10,7% of electricity demands in 2010, while all renewable energy sources cover only 5,4% of electricity demands. It is emphasised that under favourable Polish energy policy, the development of biogas energy can be very rapid.

A Short-Distance Integral-Balance Solution To A Strong Subdiffusion Equation: A Weak Power-Law Profile, Jordan Hristov Oct 2010

A Short-Distance Integral-Balance Solution To A Strong Subdiffusion Equation: A Weak Power-Law Profile, Jordan Hristov

Jordan Hristov

The work presents an integral solution of the time-fractional subdiffusion through a preliminary defined profile with unknown coefficients and the concept of penetration layer well known from the heat diffusion The profile satisfies the boundary conditions imposed at the boundary of the boundary layer in a weak form that allows its coefficients to be expressed through the boundary layer depth as unique parameter describing the profile. The technique is demonstrated by a solution of a time fractional subdiffusion equation in rectilinear 1-D conditions.

Heat-Balance Integral To Fractional (Half-Time) Heat Diffusion Sub-Model, Jordan Hristov Jun 2010

Heat-Balance Integral To Fractional (Half-Time) Heat Diffusion Sub-Model, Jordan Hristov

Jordan Hristov

The fractional (half-time) sub-model of the heat diffusion equation, known as Dirac-like evolution diffusion equation has been solved by the heat-balance integral method and a parabolic pro file with unspecified exponent. The fractional heat-balance integral method has been tested with two classic examples: fixed temperature and fixed flux at the boundary. The heat-balance technique allows easily the convolution integral of the fractional half-time derivative to be solved as a convolution of the time-independent approximating function. The fractional sub-model provides an artificial boundary condition at the boundary that closes the set of the equations required to express all parameters of the …

Effects Of Concentration And Temperature On The Coupled Heat And Mass Transport In Liquid Mixtures, Yaşar Demirel, Stanley I. Sandler Mar 2001

Effects Of Concentration And Temperature On The Coupled Heat And Mass Transport In Liquid Mixtures, Yaşar Demirel, Stanley I. Sandler

Papers in Thermal Mechanics

Using published experimental data on the thermal conductivity, mutual diffusivity, and heats of transport, the degree of coupling between heat and mass flows has been calculated for binary and ternary nonideal liquid mixtures. The binary mixtures consist of two types: the first is six systems of six-to-eight-carbon straight and branched chain alkanes in chloroform and in carbon tetrachloride; and the second is mixtures of carbon tetrachloride with benzene, toluene, 2-propanone, n-hexane, and 11-octane. The ternary mixture considered is toluene-chlorobenzene-bromobenzene. The published data are available at 35°C, 30°C, and 35°C and ambient pressure. Using the linear nonequilibi-ium thermodynainics (LNET) and the …

A New Spray Evaporation Model Based On Droplet Interface Phenomena, Nihad E. Daidzic, Gangolf Kohnen, Martin Sommerfeld

Aviation Department Publications

In this work the influence of droplet shape oscillations on droplet evaporation is shown. Through nonlinear mode interactions, turbulence and aerodynamic triggering of vibrations cause by vortex shedding, droplets always oscillates in spray flows. Droplet shape oscillation cause higher evaporation rates through several physical phenomena such as an average increase of the superficial surface area, periodic micro-convection and boundary layer destruction, and local saturation pressure changes due to local curvature effects. The inviscid theory of small-amplitude droplet oscillations was used which resulted in better agreement with the measurement data of droplet size distributions in sprays for different axial coordinates.
