Propane Oxidative Dehydrogenation Under Oxygen-Free Conditions Using Novel Fluidizable Catalysts: Reactivity, Kinetic Modeling And Simulation Study, Samira Rostom Nov 2018

Propane Oxidative Dehydrogenation Under Oxygen-Free Conditions Using Novel Fluidizable Catalysts: Reactivity, Kinetic Modeling And Simulation Study, Samira Rostom

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

Propane oxidative dehydrogenation (PODH) was studied using VOx/γAl2O3 and VOx/ZrO2-γAl2O3 (1:1 wt.%) catalysts, as well as consecutive propane injections under oxygen-free conditions. These catalysts were synthesized with 2.5, 5 and 7.5 wt.% vanadium loadings, and prepared using a wet saturation impregnation technique. Different characterization techniques were used to establish catalyst properties including NH3-TPD, pyridine FTIR and NH3-TPD kinetics. As well, PODH runs in the CREC Riser Simulator were developed under oxygen free atmospheres at 500-550°C, close to 1 atm., 10-20 s and 44.0 catalyst/propane …

Evaluation Of Voc Degradation In Photo-Catalytic Air Reactors: Tio2 Immobilization, Energy Efficiency And Kinetic Modeling, Cristina S. Lugo Vega Aug 2016

Evaluation Of Voc Degradation In Photo-Catalytic Air Reactors: Tio2 Immobilization, Energy Efficiency And Kinetic Modeling, Cristina S. Lugo Vega

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

The high VOC emissions from anthropogenic sources are detrimental to both the environment and humans, contributing with ground-level ozone and particle matter formation. Heterogeneous photocatalysis provides significant potential for VOC degradation. However, the approaches to be used for photocatalyst immobilization in scaled and highly efficient photoreactors are still not well established. Furthermore, there is a lack of reported photonic efficiencies and a shortage of required methods to establish these efficiencies.

To address these issues, this PhD Dissertation reports the study of photonic efficiencies, TiO2 immobilization on a stainless steel mesh and kinetic models in a scaled-up Photo-CREC-Air Reactor. Acetone …

Nowadays and due to environmental legislations, a world-wide attention has been given towards clean transportation fuels with emphasis on sulfur contents reduction. These efforts on the other hand are challenged by the poor qualities of crude oils. The existing desulfurization technologies such as hydrodesulfurization are not capable to cope with new firm standards. Hence, it is extremely desirable to develop a catalytic desulfurization process to meet both sulfur limits and refining economics. As one aspect of this objective, it is of great importance to study and comprehend the behaviour and chemistry of individual sulfur species present in transportation fuels cuts. …

Photocatalytic Degradation Of Phenolic Compounds In Water: Irradiation And Kinetic Modeling, Jesus Moreira Del Rio Jan 2012

Photocatalytic Degradation Of Phenolic Compounds In Water: Irradiation And Kinetic Modeling, Jesus Moreira Del Rio

Jesus Moreira del Rio

Scaling up a photoreactor requires both knowledge of optical properties of the slurry medium and an established kinetic model. Measuring the scattering and absorption coefficients of particles suspended in water involves the use of specialized optical equipment, as well as the partial solution of the radiative transfer equation (RTE). In addition, modeling of the radiation field in photoreactors with complicated geometries offers special challenges. On the other hand, most of the kinetic models (KM) for phenol photodegradation reported in the literature were obtained for a single organic chemical species only. In fact, neglecting all the intermediate species generated during the …
