Evaluation Of Multiple Disinfection Methods To Mitigate Contaminated Irrigation Water, Tianju Chang May 2015

Evaluation Of Multiple Disinfection Methods To Mitigate Contaminated Irrigation Water, Tianju Chang

Masters Theses

Outbreak of foodborne pathogens associated with fresh produce is a concern to produce growers. Irrigation water is one of the pathways of produce contamination. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed a set of guidelines for irrigation water that includes a maximum generic E.coli count lower than 126MPN/100mL. Irrigation is typically a continuous-flow process: water is withdrawn from a source and applied to a crop. In order to disinfect irrigation water, a process must be developed to provide treatment while the water is in the hydraulic network. However, studies related to the continuous flow irrigation water disinfection (CFIWD) system …

Design, Testing, And Calibration Of A Custom Air Data Boom To Obtain Flight Data For The Utsi Cessna-T210j (N33ut), Kristopher Nathaniel Oegema May 2015

Design, Testing, And Calibration Of A Custom Air Data Boom To Obtain Flight Data For The Utsi Cessna-T210j (N33ut), Kristopher Nathaniel Oegema

Masters Theses

Flight testing is dependent on the ability to accurately calculate the flight characteristics of an aircraft during a test. Any error caused by an instrument will grow into potentially larger errors or unacceptable ranges of uncertainty for any flight test calculations. The aircrafts pitot static system is designed to minimize the error in readings caused by the pressure changes resulting in air flying around the aircrafts structure. However, it still does not meet the level of accuracy desired for quality flight testing data. In order to get the most accurate data possible noncommercial equipment is installed on the aircraft for …

Integrating Engineering And Social Aspects In Selecting Stormwater Control Measures (Scms), Maudy Indriani Budipradigdo May 2015

Integrating Engineering And Social Aspects In Selecting Stormwater Control Measures (Scms), Maudy Indriani Budipradigdo

Masters Theses

The Low Impact Development (LID) approach to stormwater management is rapidly becoming the required replacement for the traditional approach of development design, solely for peak runoff attenuation. Stormwater Control Measures (SCMs) used in LID designs are some combination of physical structures and /or agronomic practices designed to capture runoff, remove pollutants, promote groundwater recharge, and protect receiving streams from channel degradation. The LID approach has been studied and documented in many journals and design manuals, but we know of no comprehensive study that combines the engineering (hydrologic performance requirements) and social aspects (complementary requirements) of the approach. SCMs have historically …

Dynamic Modeling Of A Small Modular Reactor For Control And Monitoring, Jeffrey Robert Kapernick May 2015

Dynamic Modeling Of A Small Modular Reactor For Control And Monitoring, Jeffrey Robert Kapernick

Masters Theses

A system model of the Babcock & Wilcox Generation mPower small modular reactor (SMR) was developed within the MATLAB-Simulink environment. A detailed physical configuration of this SMR was established based on the limited information available for the mPower reactor. This is an important step in the development of the simulation model. Three mathematical models were combined to simulate the control dynamics. A lumped-parameter approximation of fuel-to-coolant heat transfer is combined with vessel upper plenum and lower plenum coolant masses to represent the core power and heat transfer dynamics. A nodalized moving boundary steam generator model balances mass, momentum, and energy …
