Pressure Basketball And The Speed Game: A Comprehensive Coaching Philosophy, Lanny Vaneman
Pressure Basketball And The Speed Game: A Comprehensive Coaching Philosophy, Lanny Vaneman
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
There has been in the past, and likely will continue to be, an obvious lack of printed material dealing with the discipline of basketball. The wide spectrum of everything that is to be taught, as well as how it is to be introduced (in the writer’s opinion) has been neglected. Rather than focusing on one phase or a limited number of areas of interest, this work attempts to serve as a comprehensive basketball coaching manual for a beginning mentor. It should also serve well for one who wishes to reevaluate or revise his coaching philosophy. Careful thought has been given …
Curriculum Development Project In Health Education For Lyle School District No. 406; Scope And Sequence For Kindergarten Through Twelfth Grade And Curriculum Guide For Ninth Grade Health, James A. Titus
All Graduate Projects
Small school districts rarely have curriculum direction, let alone curriculum guides. This writer has often overheard staff members exclaim, "It would help so much if I knew what I am supposed to teach," or "It would be nice if there was some planned progression that students were exposed to." Small school districts usually cannot afford the luxury of specialized curriculum staff working on curriculum projects.
This writer, along with two other staff members was fortunate to attend a health education workshop sponsored by ESD No. 112 in the fall of 1974. A process of curriculum development for health education was …

An Elementary Physical Education Curriculum For Jones-Jaggers Laboratory School, Joanne Powell
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
This project proposes the utilization of a movement education approach in a physical education curriculum for elementary school grades one through six. It is intended to assist elementary physical education teachers in establishing and maintaining a program based on current research and literature in the field.
The movement education philosophy differs from the traditional physical education approach in the following ways:
-
The program is child-centered rather than subject-centered with successful experiences for each child of prime importance.
-
Consideration of the affective domain is as necessary to the program as the psychomotor.
-
Creativity is encouraged in that the teacher seeks new …

The purpose of this study is to outline an adequate, correlated program of health, physical education and recreation for the students of the Todd County Consolidated School of Elkton, Kentucky. The necessity for providing better programs of health, physical education and recreation in our public schools has been demonstrated in the results of the Selective Service medical examination during World War II. All our educational agencies are stressing the need for a unified, integrated, and functioning program of this type. This study makes an attempt to develop such a program in this one particular school.
Sex Education In New South Wales, Australian Council For Educational Research (Acer), Beryl King
Sex Education In New South Wales, Australian Council For Educational Research (Acer), Beryl King
Information Bulletin
This bulletin includes a study conducted in 1946 by Miss Beryl King, at that time on the staff of the Armidale Teachers’ College in New South Wales, who surveyed the amount and type of sex education given through schools or churches across three states, Victoria, NSW, and Queensland. It found that non-departmental (private) schools teach more biological science involving reproduction than did departmental (public) schools. Furthermore, it suggests that there is little administrative difference regarding sex education in the three states, with any steps taken to instruct on sex education resting entirely with the teachers themselves. The questionnaires were also …
