Relationship Between Training Programs Being Offered In State And Federal Penal Institutions And The Unfilled Job Openings In The Major Occupations In The United States, John Thomas Torrence

Electronic Theses & Dissertations

The principal hypothesis of this study was that training programs in penal institutions were not related to unfilled job openings by major occupations in the United States. It was further hypothesized that training programs being reported would have a wide variety of titles rather than follow the Dictionary of Occupational Titles format. The design for this study was the questionnaire-survey method, since the scope of the research entailed a wide geographic area. A transmittal letter was compiled, as well as a check sheet which listed training areas being offered by the Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Department of Justice. Questionnaires were …

A Normative Study Of Some Developmental Aspects Of The Human Figure Drawings Of Children, Bessie M. Whitehead Oct 1961

A Normative Study Of Some Developmental Aspects Of The Human Figure Drawings Of Children, Bessie M. Whitehead

Electronic Theses & Dissertations

For many years there has been much interest in the use of human figure drawings as a projective technique for diagnostic use with the mentally ill. Psychiatric implications are attributed to practically every possible characteristic exhibited in the human figure, but until recently, little has been done toward establishing standards or norms describing objectively how various groups in the population actually perform when asked to draw a person. A clinician had no ruler by which to measure the performance of his client. He had no standard by which he could decide that the behavior exhibited was usual or abnormal for …

Democratic society is committed to the program of educating all children of all the people regardless of their intellectual level. Every child would be educated to develop his fullest capabilities so that he can live a happy, useful life. Through appropriate education, however, even those at the lower level can be aided. A Book List Suitable For Primary Grades, Virginia Allene Sandy

Electronic Theses & Dissertations

Modern reading experts believe that the fundamental goal of a good reading program is to instill in today's children a love of reading. However, there is a great deal of evidence to show that many of these books are introduced from one to three years before the average student has the background experience …

The Organization Of A Functional Library For The Mound City, Kansas, High School, John L. Carmichael

Electronic Theses & Dissertations

The nature of the educative process widespread throughout the United States, with its emphasis upon textbooks and uniform learning, has tended to make the school library appear as an extra rather than an essential. Consequently, money has been spent on the library only with left over from other departments. Many teachers encouraged the pupil to use the library solely for leisure reading or for some other information if, or sometimes after, lessons were done. Administration in many schools have not been educational leaders. They have stood by and have been unaffected by controversies over teaching methods and materials to be …
