Due to mine cross cultural living, (I was born in the U.S. but grew in Southeast Asia), I became very interested in the Anthological, Social and Scientific difference between cultures. This led to a historical meta evaluation of humanity in general. Using the principals of Noetic Science, this evaluation reviled the ignorance and down right absence of any educational opportunities to learn the true functional abilities of mankind.
Proprioception Of The Mind: Balancing Science And Spirit Through Emotional Intelligence, Debra Ann Fowler
Proprioception Of The Mind: Balancing Science And Spirit Through Emotional Intelligence, Debra Ann Fowler
MA TESOL Collection
This paper purports to demonstrate that teaching is an art form that not only relies on knowledge of theory and practice, but, even more importantly, also depends on a sensitivity to the needs of the individual student and the needs of the group. It is important for us, as teachers, to understand that in order to teach our students we need to reach them on an emotional level by implementing emotionally intelligent judgments throughout our interactions with them. It is not sufficient to be totally versed in the subject we are teaching, we must be continually aware of the emotional …

Toward A Thorough Understanding Of The International Foundation Of Andragogy In Hrd And Adult Education, John A. Henschke Edd
IACE Hall of Fame Repository
More than 160 major works published in English from national and international sources on andragogy are presented here, in order to provide an clear and understandable, international foundation fr the linkage between the research, theory and practice of andragogy and its application to Adult Education and Human Resources Development. Six themes have emerged that provide a foundation for the linkage: The evolution of the term: historical antecedents shaping the concept; comparison of American and European understanding; popularizing of the American concept; practical applications; and theory, research, and definition. Andragogy has been used by some as a code word for identifying …

Educating our children is the most worthy, rewarding, and influential profession obtainable. Educators join the profession to improve our society and because they care about children. The task educators face is immense. Every child can learn. I believe good teachers can positively impact the lives of children and their families.
Teaching is an art and good teachers teach children how to learn. Good teachers provide a variety of resources and tools a child can use in several situations to enhance learning. Good teachers ask thoughtful, and purposeful questions that leave a child a curious learner. Education should be a highly …

Collaborative Games: Lessons Learned From Board Games, Jose Zagal, Rick Jochen, Hsi Idris
Collaborative Games: Lessons Learned From Board Games, Jose Zagal, Rick Jochen, Hsi Idris
Jose P Zagal
Collaborative mechanisms are starting to become prominent in computer games, like massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs); however, by their nature, these games are difficult to investigate. Game play is often complex and the underlying mechanisms are frequently opaque. In contrast, board games are simple. Their game play is fairly constrained and their core mechanisms are transparent enough to analyze. In this article, the authors seek to understand collaborative games. Because of their simplicity, they focus on board games. The authors present an analysis of collaborative games. In particular, they focus on Reiner Knizia’s LORDOFTHERINGS, considered by many to be the …

Diagnosing Disorderly Children: A Critique Of Behaviour Disorder Discourses, Valerie Harwood
Valerie Harwood
Based on the author's in-depth research with children diagnosed with behavioural difficulties, this book provides a thorough critique of today's practices, examining:
*The traditional analyses of behavioural disorders and the making of disorderly children *The influence of the 'expert knowledge' on behavioural disorders and its influence on schools, communities and new generations of teachers *The effect of discourses of mental disorder on children and young people *The increasing medicalisation of young children with drugs such as Ritalin.
This book offers an innovative and accessible analysis of a critical issue facing schools and society today, using Foucaultian notions to pose critical …

Mark W. Dewalt
Here is a rich ethnographic description of Amish education in 21st Century America that describes how literacy, community, and accountability are key values in the Amish educational system. The book provides an encompassing description of common teaching styles, curriculum, and textbooks, as well as detailed classroom glimpses of Amish schools throughout the United States and Canada.
A Phenomenological Interpretation Of John Dewey's View On Education, Wasim Qazi Dr., Khalid Rawat
A Phenomenological Interpretation Of John Dewey's View On Education, Wasim Qazi Dr., Khalid Rawat
Wasim Qazi
Education in our times is promoting nihilism. The reason for this conclusion is that modern education is largely knowledge based and asks the learner to learn ideas that have nothing in common with the reality of the learner. Knowledge, on the other hand, does not enjoy absolute value, and, to say that a person who has more knowledge is more valuable is wrong. John Dewey’s criticism on traditional education is equally valid for modern education, for modern education is not performing its functions properly. The function of education is to establish a strong relationship between learner and Being. However, modern …

Politeia And Paideia. “Reminiscences” Of Western Political Thought In A Reading Of Plato’S Politeia, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Paulo Ferreira da Cunha
Many readings have been proposed of the Politeia. We propose here a brief reflection of the intertextual type, not upon the theme or main themes of this work, but more precisely in search of aspects that also seem to have acquired a posterity (or at any rate a universality that allows for the detection of coincidences). It is not merely that Plato’s great utopian ideas have found an echo in later authors, as one the most important of western politico-philosophical canons. It is also that some topics and arguments that appear through this richly magnificent dialogue seem to have had …
