This study compares local prevalance rates of college male sexual aggression with those established nationally, and explores variables that may contribute to the development of sexually aggressive college men. A survey of 1682 (M = 619, W = 983) undergraduate students from a mid-sized university revealed rates similar to those found by a national study. Results of discriminant analysis indicated that sexually aggressive men were likely to have more sexual partners, to have been victims of childhood sexual and / or physical abuse, to have had their first sexual intercourse at an earlier age, and to have engaged in higher …

A study investigated the relative importance of certain college attributes to the freshmen of Ashland University, a small, private university in Ohio. Five institutional characteristics were examined: availability and variety of financial aid, dorm life (living conditions and food quality), quality of education (quality of teaching, career relevance of the curriculum, and overall institutional reputation), student-faculty relationships and interaction (availability of faculty to students, faculty promotion of student development, and degree of faculty advice given to students on personal as well as academic matters), and campus social life.

College choice is a critical decision facing many high school students. Although some research has examined where students go for help in making college choices, few studies have examined how race or gender differences of the students or differences in their standardized test scores affect their information sources. Entering college freshmen (N=3,708) indicated which ~f nine information sources (college students, friends, high school counselor, college publication, family, alumni, high school teacher, newspaper, tel~vision) they used in selecting a college.

This paper reports the findings of a three-year evaluation study of consensus moderation procedures as applied to the school-assessed component in H.S.C. Geography in Victoria. Since 1981, Group 1 subjects in the assessment program of the Victorian Institute of Secondary Education (V.I.S.E.) at Year 12 level have included a school-assessed component in addition to an external examination. For most subjects, the method of moderating the school-assessed component is by statistical moderation. A re-analysis of the Situational Attitudes Scale (SAS) was conducted to investigate lts generality, validity and reliability and to suggest a more conservative method of analyzing the data. Three forms of the SAS were developed under the name Situational Attitude Inventory. Forms A and B corresponded to the originals; they tested attitudes toward whites and blacks, respectively, in varying social situations. Form c was developed to test the validity of the social situations for differentiation among alternative referents, which included welfare, age, ethnicity, and physical characteristics. I have always maintained that at-risk students were often blamed for their lack of success, rather than supported to overcome their prior educational challenges. As a second year residence hall director I had the privilege of working in a building with two distant wings. With the support of my mentor, Dr. Eugene J. Cech, Director of Testing, we developed a residence life program designed to assist summer lower-quarter high school graduates to be successful in college. The quality of residence life does make a difference. The journal, College Student Survey, no longer appears to be published.

The article was based on a section of my 1966 master's thesis from Syracuse University, in which I surveyed the Grand Chapter officers and undergraduates from two chapters of a national fraternity on several topics that I thought were important to fraternity life at that time. Interestingly, the article remains one of relatively few focues on the fraternity ritual and its application to daily life even after 45 years' time. The journal, College Student Survey, no longer appears to be published.
