This Course-Linked Capstone in Training focuses on intercultural competency development, both of the practitioner’s own life journey and through the lens of study abroad, highlighting a Case Study with SIT Study Abroad in Morocco. This Capstone weaves together theory and practice of intercultural competence, experiential learning, social justice training, and study abroad. The practitioner’s self-analysis includes reflection of her Practicum time, as well as a timeline of her intercultural competency development, including growth areas in five categories: knowledge, skills, attitudes, awareness and language. The J-1 Trainee and Intern Exchange Visitor program came out of the legislation of the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961. This policy was brought forth at the end of World War II. State and Federal Documents Relating to Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties

On April 23, 1996, Monterey County Water Resources Agency filed with the State Water Resources Control Board Application 30532 in order to obtain a water right for the 27,900 af of water stored in Nacimiento Reservoir which is not covered by License 7543. Permit 10137 authorized the diversion of 350,000 af of water from the Nacimiento River to storage in the Nacimiento Reservoir. The subsequent License 7543 issued in 1965 confirmed the diversion. Using more sophisticated measuring technology in the 1990s, it was determined that the actual capacity of the Nacimiento Reservoir was actually 377,900 af. The State Water Resources …

The Monterey County Water Resources Agency (Agency) is responsible for the management and planning of water resources within Monterey County The agency uses a network of wells to monitor groundwater conditions in the Salinas Valley ground water basin (Figure 1). The progressive advancement of the seawater intrusion front into groundwater zones and the understanding of the northern Salinas ground water basin hydrogeology have been documented by the Agency since the 1950s. Only since the late 1990s was there sufficient well logs, geophysical, and lithological data to support a three-dimensional (3-D) study of the inter-related ancestral fluvial and alluvial-fan depositional environments …

Forests hold an important place in offsetting carbon emissions, absorbing nearly 40 percent of man-made fossil fuel emissions every year. Over the last 100 years, the effects of deforestation have crippled our forest’s ability to store excess carbon, leading to drastic atmospheric change. Efforts to regrow deforested forests have increased rapidly to address issues like climate change. There is thus a need to analyze current efforts at regaining carbon storage, a critical component to maintaining atmospheric homeostasis.
