Reserve Currency And A Lender Of Next-To-Last Resort: A Literature Review, Alida S. Skold
Reserve Currency And A Lender Of Next-To-Last Resort: A Literature Review, Alida S. Skold
Alida S. Skold
The role of the US dollar as the global dominant reserve currency is eroding. Debate is ongoing regarding next steps. Moving the international monetary system to a single global currency is part of the debate. Literature reviews the eroding role of the US dollar and implications the erosion carries for the US. The Special Drawing Rights developed by the IMF could fill the role of Keynes’ recommended global currency known as the “bancor.” Regardless of the nature of the global reserve currency, access to liquidity is required to have an effective international monetary system. Literature defines a missing layer of …

Variations In Climatic Parameters And Food Crop Yields: Implications On Food Security In Benue State, Nigeria., Emmanuel Adamgbe, Fanan Ujoh
Confluence Journal Environmental Studies (CJES), Kogi State University, Nigeria
Agricultural production in Nigeria like in other developing countries is highly vulnerable to variations in climatic parameters which may have inverse or direct effect on the performance of food crops. This paper examines the patterns and trends of the variations in the climatic parameters and the implications of such variations on efficient yield rates of some food crops in Benue State using data on climatic variables (rainfall, temperature, sunshine) and the yield of some crops per hectare for 25 years (1986-2010). Data on the climatic variables were collected from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, AirForce Base, Makurdi while the data on …

A Critical Examination Of The Relationship Between The Use Of Gatekeepers, Trust, And Organisation Knowledge-Sharing, Deogratias Harorimana Dr
Dr Deogratias Harorimana
This thesis critically examines the relationship between gatekeepers, trust, and an organisation’s knowledge sharing. The research applied mixed methods with the case study approach. In this research the concept ‘gatekeeper’ is widely used to represent a class of those who are part of a knowledge management strategy; they collect information and knowledge and contextualise this before they can share it with the rest of the members of the organisation’s knowledge networks - within the formal and informal organisation. In this study, it was found that there was a strong relationship between the openness of a given firm, as regards its …

Examinations of RTA issues have been plagued by divergences of view on a series of systemic lacunae both in the substantive rules of the WTO and in the very process of examination. Moreover, the WTO Understanding on the Interpretation of Article XXIV, adopted as part of the Final Act of the Uruguay Round, has done little to resolve the more difficult issues.

Standing Order Operations In The Banking Industry, George E. Ekeha
Standing Order Operations In The Banking Industry, George E. Ekeha
George E Ekeha
Standing order operations by the bank is a system by which customers instruct the bank to make systematic payments on behalf of the customer to a third party. This arrangement must be control and managed by the customer. The customer must have the sole right to cancel this arrangement from his bank at any time he wishes. Unfortunately however, this is not the situation with some banks in Ghana. In this article we outline an experience of a customer of Ecobank regarding the operation of standing order.

Self-Control As A Moderator Of The Relationship Between Formal Control And Workplace Deviance: A Proposed Framework, Kabiru Maitama Kura
Self-Control As A Moderator Of The Relationship Between Formal Control And Workplace Deviance: A Proposed Framework, Kabiru Maitama Kura
Dr. Kabiru Maitama Kura
Several studies in the field of management, organizational psychology, sociology and criminology have reported that workplace deviance is related to organization/work variables, such as organizational justice, job satisfaction, perceived organizational support, and job stress, among others. However, few studies have attempted to consider the influence of formal control on workplace deviance. Even if any, they have reported conflicting findings. Therefore, a moderating variable is suggested. This paper proposes a moderating role of self-control on the relationship between formal control and workplace deviance.

This description of the crime that Chase participates in as it proceeds with its foreclosure activities is necessary because the banking industry is misleading the judicial system about important financial aspects of today’s home loan mortgages. This is an initial attempt to describe the crime, including references to La Cosa Nostra and the crime families.

Technical Assistance, Knowledge Gatekeeping And Indigenous Knowledge: Re-Thinking The International Development Practice, Deogratias Harorimana Sr
Dr Deogratias Harorimana
This paper presents results from a multi-disciplinary conceptual analysis of development theory and practice. It reviews issues raised and proposes a shift in the epistemology of possession towards an epistemology of practice which is guided by the following aspects (1) The consideration of the learning culture of parties involved, (2) the ability and willingness for decontextualisation of the knowledge by the source and (3) the ability to embedded it by recipients (embededness ), (4) the importance that is attached to knowledge of the host country as reflected through (5) Similarity in culture, values, understanding of context and knowledge bases; (6) …

Beyond Empiricism: Realizing The Ethical Mission Of Management, Julian Friedland
Julian Friedland
Research into the proper mission of business falls within the context of theoretical and applied ethics. And ethics is fast becoming a part of required business school curricula. However, while business ethics research occasionally appears in high-profile venues, it does not yet enjoy a regular place within any top management journal. I offer a partial explanation of this paradox and suggestions for resolving it. I begin by discussing the standard conception of human nature given by neoclassical economics as disseminated in business schools; showing it is a significant obstacle to an accurate conception of ethics and how this limits consideration …
Software Requirements Management Through The Lenses Of People, Organizational And Technological Dimensions, Fernando Paulo Belfo
Software Requirements Management Through The Lenses Of People, Organizational And Technological Dimensions, Fernando Paulo Belfo
Fernando Paulo Belfo
The inadequate specification of requirements remains being indicated as one of the main reasons for the failure of software development projects. A possible explanation for this failure is that requirements management tends to overvalue the technology side of requirements. However, the requirements management depends on other important issues beyond technology which are sometimes neglected. Good requirements are only assured by the right balance of three dimensions: people, organization and technology. Through the lens of each of these three dimensions, this paper reviews significant literature, identifying some of the key issues and concerns about the management of software requirements, particularly the …

Legal Barriers To Implementing International Providers Into Medical Provider Networks For Workers' Compensation, Richard Krasner
Richard Krasner
Over the last twenty years, medical costs associated with lost time workers’ compensation claims has risen dramatically, despite efforts to reform the system. Medical tourism, a popular option for many seeking lower cost health care, is one option that has yet to catch on. Issues of quality of health care in other countries is no different for workers’ compensation patients, as it is for health care patients, and with accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI), hospitals that cater to medical tourists offer better care at lower cost than most U.S. hospitals offer. Certain procedures, common to workers’ compensation claims, …
