No Child Left Behind: Implications For Career And Technical Education, Julie Chadd, Karen Drage

Faculty Research & Creative Activity

High school principals and career and technical education (CTE) teachers throughout Illinois were subjects of this study which described principals' and CTE teachers' perceptions of the impact the No Child Left Behind Act of2001 has had on high school CTE programs. Findings indicated principals and teachers collectively disagreed with "No Child Left Behind has had a positive impact on the image ofCTE at your school." Evaluation of non-functional properties of a design (such as performance, dependability, security, etc.) can be enabled by design annotations specific to the property to be evaluated. Performance properties, for instance, can be annotated on UML designs by using the "UML Profile for Schedulability, Performance and Time (SPT)". However the communication between the design description in UML and the tools used for non-functional properties evaluation requires support, particularly for performance where there are many alternative performance analysis tools that might be applied. This paper describes a tool architecture called PUMA, which provides a unified interface between different kinds of design information …

Characterization Of Internet Traffic And User Classification: Foundations For The Next Generation Of Network Emulation, Rigoberto Chinchilla, John Hoag, David Koonce, Hans Kruse, Shawn Osterman, Yufei Wang

Rigoberto Chinchilla

Rigorous experimentation is emerging as the preferred method for validating the benefits of protocols, especially those affecting quality of service. The emulation of traffic generators provides a compact and efficient method for testing protocols and techniques in a realistic context. Models of user behavior serve as the basis for the trafgen traffic emulator and are subject to refinement as our knowledge expands. The project in this study uses a layered approach to study different Internet applications and protocols including the hypertext transfer protocol, http.
