To examine how academic law libraries can respond to the call for more practice-oriented legal education, the authors compared trends in collection management decisions regarding secondary sources at academic and law firm libraries. The results of their survey are followed by recommendations about how academic and firm librarians can work together to best provide law students with materials they will need in practice.

As this is new to us, questions arise. What will this reporting look like? How will it play out on our campuses? Who should our partners be? What will be useful to report and what might not? This session is designed to begin a conversation across institutions to encourage each other to be creative as we explore useful ways to tell the information literacy story at our campuses.
It is important for everyone responding to SCHEV to remember, the reporting requirement is simply that, a mandate. Assessment mandates, from all types of entities, should not be feared but embraced. It …

Butler University librarians are “invading” their University’s core curriculum with information literacy integrated on multiple fronts, both at the administrative programmatic level and via a ‘grass-roots,’ one-class-at-a time approach. Butler University upholds an extensive core curriculum required of all of its students consisting of a first-year seminar, a sophomore global historical studies course, and six content areas. Librarians have been engaged with the University’s first year seminar for a number of years and have been looking at how to expand our reach into other areas of the core. While not abandoning an intentional programmatic approach, we are finding a “space …

According to a 2013 survey, about 40% of college students have used tablets for coursework and two-thirds have used a smartphone. Students also report that they would like to use their mobile devices more often in their courses. This session will provide the opportunity to learn about strategies for incorporating the use of mobile devices in the classroom, including WU-texter, an application developed and implemented by Ron in a computer science course.
