The Influence Of Transformational Middle Leaders On Work-Life Balance, 2018 University of Kentucky
The Influence Of Transformational Middle Leaders On Work-Life Balance, Timothy D. Tanner
Theses and Dissertations--Education Sciences
Work-life balance is a key indicator of employee satisfaction, retention, and social health as well as organizational creativity and productivity. These dual benefits for employee and employer have generated interest in promoting work-life balance. Supervisors who operate from a transformational leadership framework have been linked to greater work-life balance among employees (Lamm, 2011; (Kutilek, Conklin, & Gunderson, 2002). The role of a supportive organizational culture is also central (Lewis, 2001).
In this study, Cooperative Extension Service agents (N = 1390) participated in a nationwide survey exploring the relationship between rated levels of transformational leadership among district directors, work-life balance, …

Assistive Technology Guidelines For Higher Education Disability Support Staff, Brenda Delee
CCE Theses and Dissertations
With the changing laws and effective integration of assistive technology into the classroom environment, students can have the provision of multiple means to complete their work with greater independence. In post secondary education, any student who discloses a sensory, cognitive, or physical disability is eligible to request and receive assistive technology and other services. When used correctly, assistive technology can help students with reading, writing, math, and communication skills. With a possible influx of students, disability support staff must be prepared and willing to meet the needs and address issues relating to students with disabilities. If their needs are not …
Metacognition And Moho Collide: Creating Effective Tutor And Mentoring Programs For College Students On Academic Probation, 2018 Eastern Kentucky University
Metacognition And Moho Collide: Creating Effective Tutor And Mentoring Programs For College Students On Academic Probation, Rachel Helen Vick
Online Theses and Dissertations
Current legislation offers K-12 students identified as having special needs support in school settings, resulting in increased opportunities including attending college. In college, these students become part of a population of high-risk students. In an effort to retain students, universities create assistive learning centers offering tutoring and mentoring programs. Best practices in these centers include implementation of metacognitive strategies which are proven to improve student outcomes, but not all students utilize them. This study implemented a tutor and mentor training program developed through Occupational Therapy consultation in a university assistive learning center. Tutors and mentors in the center were trained …

Thinking Like A Fox: Individual Choice And The Unique Role Of Liberal Arts Colleges In Empowering America's Future Leaders, Christopher Tan
Richard T. Schellhase Essay Prize in Ethics
The dilemma faced by Dean Kelly Smith on whether to allow Chris Williams to graduate from her college challenges the current model of higher education in the United States from an economic and normative perspective. When considering the situation that Dean Smith faces, this paper aims to demonstrate how Chris Williams should not be allowed to graduate without first passing the Senior Seminar after: (1) exploring the role of liberal arts colleges in encouraging agency among their students; (2) assessing the qualitative value of a college education in diversifying students’ knowledge base and providing students with the resources and opportunities …

Exploring Students' Use Of Feedback During Occupational Therapy Level Ii Fieldwork Experiences, 2018 University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences
Exploring Students' Use Of Feedback During Occupational Therapy Level Ii Fieldwork Experiences, Karen Snyder
Occupational Therapy Collection
Researchers confirmed that the use of feedback assists with the improvement of students’ confidence and performance. Multiple studies focus on the provision and acceptance of feedback; however, it was not known if, or how, students internalized the feedback to apply it successfully. Since there is a difference between providing feedback and the interpretation of its true message, this phenomenon was studied to add empirical knowledge regarding students’ feedback interpretation. This qualitative study explores the perceptions of how students interpret information received from Level II fieldwork educators and what meanings students attributed to the feedback. The use of phenomenological methodology guided …

12-Month Enrollment 2018-2019, 2018 University of Nebraska at Omaha
12-Month Enrollment 2018-2019, Uno Office Of Institutional Effectiveness
IPEDS 12-month Enrollment
The 12-Month Enrollment component collects unduplicated student enrollment counts and instructional activity data for an entire 12-month period. Using the instructional activity data reported, a full-time equivalent (FTE) student enrollment at the undergraduate and graduate level is estimated. Institutions with Doctor's-professional practice students will also report the FTE enrollment of those students. NCES uses the FTE enrollment to produce indicators such as expenses by function per FTE as reported in the IPEDS Data Feedback Report.
A Collaborative, Trilateral Approach To Bridging The Information Literacy Gap In Student Writing, 2018 Eastern Kentucky University
A Collaborative, Trilateral Approach To Bridging The Information Literacy Gap In Student Writing, Trenia Napier, Jill M. Parrott, Erin Presley, Leslie A. Valley
EKU Faculty and Staff Scholarship
As localized assessments confirm national findings that undergraduates struggle to integrate resources into research-based compositions effectively, data at one comprehensive public university indicate library sessions improve students’ ability to locate and evaluate information, but students continue to struggle with the “use” component of information literacy. This article presents a trilateral case study among librarians, faculty, and writing center administrators, emphasizing the intersection of programmatic partnerships, assessment, and pedagogical best practices. Our research shows a trilateral approach to information literacy increases efficacy and a sense of shared responsibility in support of student research where traditional bilateral approaches fall short.
